Introduction: Watermelon Slush

With so much watermelon sitting around, I decided to freeze some and see how a watermelon slush would taste. This is really easy to make and you only need watermelon to make it!

Step 1: Supplies

This recipe will make one serving. You can increase to serve a lot of people or make individual services.

Ingredients:

  • 2c Frozen Diced Watermelon
  • 1/2c Watermelon Juice or Water - the juice will just keep the taste stronger, but you can use water too
  • 1/4c Simple Syrup (optional)

Utensils:

Watermelon Lemonade Slushie (for a little variation)

  • 2c Frozen Diced Watermelon
  • 1/4c Watermelon Juice
  • about 1/4c Simple Syrup - more or less to taste, the watermelon has sweetness on its own, but it can help to add some to go with the lemon juice
  • 2-4Tbsp Lemon Juice

Step 2: Freeze Watermelon

Okay, don't do what I did. I froze my watermelon in a little container, which probably would have been fine if they hadn't leaked watermelon juice/water into the container. This caused my watermelon to stick in one solid clump.

What you should do. Cut up your watermelon into cubes for easier blending. Put your cubes into a gallon ziploc bag. Try to avoid getting any excess water or juice into the bag. Stick this in the freezer until they're frozen (I just left them overnight).

Break up your froze watermelon and measure out however much you want.

Step 3: Blend

Time to blend!

Put your frozen watermelon chunks and watermelon juice in the blender. You may need more or less juice. I would say to start with a little and add more as you need it. You are only adding it in to assist in the blending.

Blend on low. You don't need it high and it will probably just make it more difficult.

Use your temper tool (optional) to get the watermelon down to the blades and blended.

It is done when it feels done for you. Your goal is to get it so there are no more chucks and not a lot of liquid. It will melt on its own anyway, so don't help it along by having a lot of liquid in there.

Step 4: Serve

Serve it up!

For garnish, cut watermelon into small wedges. Stick it on the side of the glass or right in the slushie.
