Introduction: What to Do With Losing Cornstarch? Maybe a Lovely Keychain Fake Rock!

If your cornstarch is old and no longer valid not throw it

away. You can use it to make a dough that looks like a stone when dry!

With this dough you can cover plastic parts, do modeling or use templates ready for crafts.

Step by step you received instructions to make the dough and this keychain. In addition, it gives other suggestions for the use of clay.

Step 1: Make a Dough.

Sand Clay

1 cup of sand (the sand should be dried)

½ cup of corn starch

½ tablespoon of alumen

½ cup of water

Water-based dye (optional)

How to make the dough:

Place all ingredients in a pan and mix well. (You can color the whole dough placing the dye at this stage, if you want to).

Step 2: Cooking

Put the mixture to cook over low heat and continue stirring

continuously.

The dough is ready when it becomes aggregated and loosen the pan.

Stir a little and remove from heat.

OK. The dough is ready.

OK. A massa está pronta!

Step 3: Make a Mold

While we expect the clay to dry, we make the mold.

I took the picture from the internet and copy only half, as I put the transparent sheet on the computer screen.

So I folded my drawing in half and copied the rest.

I scratched with a pencil the opposite of drawing paper and copied on a transparent fabric.

I also copied the design for a piece of thick paper and I clipped the part of the frame

Tradução: Enquanto esperamos a massinha secar, vamos fazer o molde.

Step 4: Let's Do the Keychain!

Put color in clay, if you want and mix until smooth.

With the aid of two tabs, create a plate.

Use the internal mold of thick paper and cut out the inside of the keychain.

Place the fabric drawn to the picture on cut plate and with the help of a pencil, crochet needle, or tools for modeling, mark all lines.

Use a needle to scratch the parts that need to be taken, such as the mouth, and pull to pieces carefully.

Use a pencil or something similar to create peaks and valleys.

For convenience, the original figure has on hand and compare with your modeling.

When modeling, you will notice that the edges are deformed. If this happens, when you finish the job, replace the thick paper mold and remove the edges that are left. But do it carefully so as not knead the carved figure.

Do the same process with the frame.

Step 5: The Frame

Here, you have two options: or do their parts separately, or do as explained here. It is best to do the same day and, if you have to stop for a while, cover your work with plastic, so it does not dry.The problem with making the parts and put them together after ready is that sometimes when drying, the pieces may not fit perfectly in time to stick them.

But do the way I suggest can end in disaster and you end up ruining your work, for example, digging with hand side is still damp sculpture ... You choose.

Observe the photos and run the process.

Do not forget to put a hook to the current keychain.

Observe as fotos e execute o processo.

Step 6: Finish!

Done! Attach to a keychain chain or a cord.

Warning: Be careful not to drop on Mario!

Feito!

Step 7: Other Suggestions

I made a plaster mold of a small plate and fills with clay. Then decorated with marker pen and the still damp clay (obviously touching the pen lightly on clay to not deform it).In already dry clay, it is best to use brush and alcohol-based aniline.

The collar and ornament birds were made using cookie cutters and stamps (paste).

The kitten is free modeling.

Varnishing with the correct varnish, can stand up outdoors.

Enjoy yourself!
