Introduction: Wood Flathead Four Cylinder Motor

This woodworking project is a Flathead four cylinder engine. The moving parts are the crankshaft, camshaft, connecting rods, pistons, valves, and timing gears. The engine is similar in design to the old Willys Jeep L-134 flathead four cylinder engine. The valves have an unusual layout due to shared inport and exhaust manifold ports. To make construction and demonstration a little easier, I added a strip of masking tape on top of the block identifiying each valve (E- exhaust, I = Intake).
A distributor, spark plugs and spark plug wires have been added but are for looks only with no moving parts.
All of the parts are made from scrap pieces of wood and wood dowel.
