Introduction: Wooden Binder With Hinge | Tome of Testimonials

About: Trotec Laser Canada provides laser engraving and laser cutting machines for processing a wide variety of materials. Cut, engrave and mark wood, paper, metal, acrylic, leather, stone, plastics and many more. O…

This week we went beyond bending minds and started bending wood on our laser cutting machine! We laser cut a hinge into 1/8" Baltic Birch plywood to give you our "Tome of Testimonials", an awesome 3-page binder filled with testimonials from our customers across Canada.

We want to thank all those who said some kind words about us!

Step 1: Cutting and Engraving the Wood

The first thing we did was engrave some testimonials given to us by customers who were pleased with our great service and laser equipment. We used the Speedy400 flex laser machine using 80 power and 100 speed.

For the cutting portion, we cut the red vertical lines (See CorelDraw File in the next step) first at 60 power and .8 speed. We make sure to have masking paper over the wood to reduce burning residue.

Step 2: Creating the Hinge

Next we took the flat piece of plywood we just engraved to create the hinge, allowing us to fold the pieces of Baltic wood on top of each other! That was easy.

This unique process has been spreading all across the laser industry.

Be sure to stop by one of our 4 locations to take a look at a binder!
