Step 1: Step 1: Making the Front

First lay two boards together and measure in 8.75" on both sides and cut down at a 45 degree angle to get the "V" in the front. Then you lay these two boards and then a board that you cut at 48". Next cut two boards at 11" high these you will attach to the end to hold the boards together. Place your screws 1 1/4" from the top and place the second screw 3 1/2 from the first screw and 3 1/2 from the second screw to the third screw. Next cut the pieces that will be placed in the front of the "V" (as show in the picture), with the "V" you can cut it to any angle of your choosing depending on how wide you want the opening .This will give you your front piece that should be three pieces of wood total to give you a height of 11"

Step 2: Step 2: Making the Sides

First you will cut three pieces at 35" long. With your scrap wood cut four pieces 11" high. Then attach these pieces to the end of your board, put your screws in measuring 1 1/4" from the top for your first screw and then 3 1/2 from the first screw to the second screw and 3 1/2" from the second screw to the third screw. Repeat this for your second side.

Step 3: Step 3: Making the Back

Cut three boards at 48" long. Then cut two pieces at 11" high. Next lay your boards together and attach the 11" tall piece to the outer edge using the same spacing as you did when making the sides in step 2. Then put all your pieces together and attach the two bottom pieces.

Step 4: Step 4: Sanding

Once all your boards have been screwed together sand every piece until smooth and all edges are flushed.

Step 5: Step 5: Staining & Finish

After you have completely sanded all of your pieces you can stain them with any wood stain. After you have allowed the stain to dry for a few days put a clear protective coat over your entire project.
