Introduction: Wooden Welcome Log

About: I am a kid who is creative and expresses that through craft. i love to work with paper, wood, or cardboard. I also love the outdoors. Share your cool ideas and I can make it happen!

On this tutorial I will be showing you how to make a wooden welcome log to put on your patio and entryway

Step 1: Tools/ Materials

For this project, you will need 1 log of your choice( bark may be on or off, in this case I took a section of the bark out) an engraver (or hot pen, hot pen will not achieve the 3 dimensional letters) one lighter. Also, an optional sander

Step 2: Engraving Letters

Start with sketching out your characters and designs. When you are finished with that, start to engrave the letters. Tilt the tip of the engraver to make the final depth of the letters stand out

Step 3: Scorching

Now you have a log with indents where the letters are but they may still not pop out. So grab your lighter and start to burn off any lose fragments around the letters. Continue to scorch the area around the letters until you have recognizable letters

Step 4: (optional) Sanding

Start to sand the scorched areas. In the end you should have a nice rustic, looking welcome sighn

Step 5:

If you are u satisfied with the results, repeat the process briefly from step 2. Nails to angle the log are also suggested
