Yoshi (or Any Design) Custom Penny Board

This project is a rather simple one, to put any image you want from any source onto a board.

Supplies:

Plywood (any dimension you want, just make sure it can support you, or if you want to have a high quality board there are plenty of instructables or youtube)
Clear coat polyurethane
Your image printed out on regular paper
Background poster paper, I picked up a simple project high gloss white paper
Wood and regular glue (I used a glue stick)
grip tape is optional
Then all the hardware

steps

design- sketch out your board out on paper, only drawing half vertically so that it is symmetrical.
cut- cut your board out in this selected design then sand and make the board to your preference.

now for the actual art portion

find and print your selected design, I chose Yoshi in my example.
Cut this design as close as possible, or to how you want it, you just don't want plain white paper showing where you don't want to.
Then with the poster board, get a general idea of where you want the design by lining up your board so you know what room you have to work with, then glue the design where you want. I used a glue stick because it doesn't cause the paper to wrinkle and the excess on the white can easily be cleaned up with a damp paper towel.
This is where everything gets tricky and annoying, with the side of the board you want the design on, put a thin and even layer of wood glue on then place the poster board on, I recommend using a paper towel to apply pressure on the poster to ensure it bonds and then lay some paper towels on the ground to make sure the design is protected.
Once dry, use an exacto knife to cut the excess poster board you don't want, note this part is tricky and it may not come out exactly how you want if you rush it, you should try to practice before.
Once the board looks how you want, start applying the clear coat, making sure to cover the edges of the design to that it does not stick up and so that it stay secure to the poster board. I put a lot of coats on to get a nice glossy finish. Make sure to get the edges as well to keep the wood protected. make sure to at lease put one coat on the top as well, whether or not you plan on using grip tape.

Finally use the hardware to carefully drill the holes in your desired area and mount the trucks.
