this is a guide on how to grow beans in your dorm house apartment or in my case in my room windowsill where it gets lotsa light sun wind and so forth lets move on
(this is not to eat soonner or later the coffee will ferment and make your beans smelly to avoid this leave it in the sun and give it only a little water every 3 days)

Step 1: Time to Set Up the Rig

in this case i am growing red beans and pinto beans my favorite types just because they look so wholesome and nice in this situation i am going to go all natural.

Materials: day 1-4 (depends on what type of bean you use)
1. Any type of beans
2.100% cotton
3.a small container (get one by ordering some Chinese food its a light meal)
5.lots of patience grounds (im a 14 year old coffee guzzler like 1 gallon in 2 days i get good mileage too)

Step 2: Getting the Grounds

first you need a coffee machine any type when your finished making coffee do not throw away the grounds put it in a plant or into this project. for the cotton unravel the cotton by ripping one of the sides then pull it apart then soak the cotton in water

Step 3: Cotton Time

just take your thumb and your index finger and push your thumb down and your index finger(pointer finger) and push it to the side of the cotton

Step 4: Placement of the Grounds

just take em and pour them in the container then spread it nicely make sure you soaked the cotton in water let it set for a while

Step 5: Placement of the Beans

its so easy a caveman can do it. (please don't sue me) it is just put your bean in any type of formation i would recommend a circle but i went miniature farmer mode and pressed holes in first then drop a bean in than cover it with extra coffee grounds.

This is a great Instructable, but you need to add a main image of the final project to the intro step. Please do that and leave me a message when you have so that we can publish your work. Thanks!

Have you grown any to the point that they produce mature beans? Will that work? I have gotten sprouts started just from soaking them a bit to long to cook Thanks for any info.

    Nice post. Sprouting is great;

I did this same thing but without the coffe grounds.

I made a knock off version on the sprouting device they sell at the sprout people web site. I used 2 plastic stackable cups with tiny holes drilled in the bottom of th inner cup for drainage. I used the plastic lid off of a jar of instant coffee for the lid after drilling small holes in it. I also made a supers router out of a couple of small (one or two quart) stackable sterelite stackable storage containers for larger batches

do the bean sprouts taste like coffee?

did you put the cotton under the coffee grounds so that it would keep the beans from sitting in water and rotting?
