this tutorial is going to teach you how to make a Victorian/Edwardian men detachable collar shirt

materials:

dress shirt (with collar)
card stock
sewing machine
thread (that matches your shirt)
scissors
collar stud
cloth (that matches your shirt)
pencil
iron

Step 1: Step 1

get a dress shirt that fits well with a collar

Step 2: Step 2

trace out the collar on the card stock and add 1" to the measurements

Step 3: Step 3

take your scissors and cut out the template, then CAREFULLY cut out the collar at the collar band as shown. discard the cut out collar.cut the collar band button off and save it for later. cut a button hole where the button was making two holes in one shirt

Step 4: Step 4

trace the template on the cloth and repeat to form two halves of the collar
and cut it out. then trace 3 button holes like so . two where the ends meet and one in the middle of the collar

Step 5: Step 5

sew the two halves but leave a side non-stiched to make one whole collar pice on a sewing machine , just ignore the white cloth

Step 6: Step 6

take the collar and turn inside out then iorn it out flat. then sew. the gap in the cloth then cut out the button holes and sew it. sorry about the bad sewing I made a mistakes

Step 7: Step 7

sew the collar band button to the middle of the shirt .attach the collar to the shirt by button the back first then add the collar stud
and there you have it a detachable collar shirt

Step 8: (optional) Starching the Collar

materials:

1 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
3 3/4 cup tap water
spray bottol
shallow pot
stove
iorn

1) take the cornstarch and place it in a spray bottol and add the 1/4 cup cold water then mix inside the spray bottol

2) boil the 3 3/4 cups of water in the pot

3) add the boiling water in the spray bottol and mix the starch solution to the hot water let cool down before next step

4) spray the collar till it is wet/drenched then let the collar dry in the sun ( if wrinkles are in the collar, when dry ,iorn out )
discard after 3 days
