I wanted to make a fun treat for some of my friends for halloween. Simple and effective, if I do say so myself.

Step 1: Materials

cake mix of your choice + ingredients to make the cake (I make mine from scratch...let me know if you want that recipe)
store bought frosting (white or cream cheese is best, or you can also make your own)
red food coloring
bone candies

Step 2: This Is Really All There Is to It...

Bake the cupcakes according to the directions on the box
Mix red food coloring into the frosting until you reach your desired color
Ice the cupcakes when cool
Decorate with bones
Enjoy!
