Step 1: Tools.

first of all you need your tools. My swing can be made with simple tools. You need a wooden beam some meassure instruments , a saw , a screw machine ( or screwdrivers) , a drill and a strong robe

Step 2: The Seat.

First of all we are going to make the seat. Meassure 50 and 100cm make sure you do it carefully. Then you saw the beam. Now you have two beams of each 50cm.

Step 3: Drill Some Holes

Now we're going to drill some holes to secure the rope. It is important that you meassur very carefully before you drill. You need to drill four holes, one on each ending of the beam.

Step 4: Anchor Points.

In this step we're going to make some achor point to make sure the swing does'nt fall apart when you sit on it. Saw four blocks of wood (5cmx5,5cm). Attach them on one of the two beam. Don't forget to drill tiny holes before you screw them.

Step 5: Anchor Point Rope

Drill two hole in each beam. Put in each hole a ancher point.

Step 6: The Knot.

To secure the rope to the we are going to use a reef knot. it is a very simple but strong knot.

Step 7: The Result

When you're done making your swing it is time to find a good tree for hanging the swing. first you trow one beam over the branch. Then puch the two beams together like shown on the picture. For more firmness you have to acher the rope on the anchorpoints.

I'm curious about the motivation/reason behind the two-part seat design. If you elaborated on the design considerations somewhere in the steps, that would be a really great addition to this! :)

Tthe two-part seat is first of all a weight so you can toss it easy in a tree. secondly it's to secure the rope's. On my blog (http://ameyslennardswing.blogspot.be/) you can find my design proces maybe it will help you understand it .
