this is a lego usp .45 from call of duty. yes it does shoot, though you have to pull back the part for cocking it to shoot.

you should be extremely gentle when you put the handle onto the rest to the gun

Good job with the rubber bands for the trigger mechanism; I actually recently built a similar LEGO pistol (only Star Wars related) which also used rubber bands and Technic parts in order to fire!
