Semi auto

OK my Dad took a hand-gun safety coarse and he got to use a Semi Auto, He learned how it was semi auto. when you cock it once it loads a bullet and the firing pin is pulled back. Bang you fire! the the recoil from the gun re-cockes the gun!and you fire and so on!

semi autos

I have an idea knex semi auto system for a gun i havent tried it but hey it might just work if you put a springy spring on the ram with about 7 elastic bands and when you fire the force from the elastic bands will reload the gun because the spring springs the ram back (you will need a auto load system) if you have any more ideas post tem and let me know ill try he gun idea of mine and ill see if it works

Barrel For Semi-Semi Automatic Knex Guns

For those of you that dont know Semi-Semi-Automatic or whatever else you call them, are the guns that when you pull back the ram rod a new bullet falls into place and you pull the trigger and it fires. Well almost EVERY type of (im just gonna call them Semi-automatic) semi-auto gun has a barrel consisted of tan pieces meant for locking into place wheels and such. What i posted this forum for was because ive only seen one other kind of barrel like that and that was the one of Perfect Duck. I wanted to know if anyone had any other barrel ideas for a semi-auto gun because i only have enough of those tan pieces to fit a blue rod so..... thank you if you put any input in and please comment.

Semi auto MP5K

Hello everyone, i am back agian, with something non generic. I've seen to many basic "slide action" and simple "pin-pull back" guns. Usually, replicas that look good, often can't shoot, and most ugly-looking guns have a unique mech. I decided to combine the two, and make a decent looking mp5k, with a semi auto mech. The mech is different from my semi auto vector's mech, because the trigger is much more stronger than before, and never breaks. This is an unfinished gun, so will post instructions later. Pros and cons: Pros: -semi auto, original idea -magazine with internal pusher -super good looks (compared to my airsoft MP5K) -I kinda perfected the front sight -excels in CQB in knex wars (if you are going to have one) Cons: -hard to pull the trigger -shoots below 20-15 feet -a lot of cut pieces -cut pieces are needed (unfortunately) sorry guys ;(

HV1 - semi auto

Hey, I new to the site. I would just like to say I was looking around, and enjoyed viewing everybody's creations. I've also been making K'new guns since I was pretty young, and I still enjoy making new creations to pop my friends with (lol). Anywho, this is one of my more recent guns. As you can see by the look and style of it I've always designed my guns around functionality rather than looks first (making the shape of another type of gun). I believe this makes my guns pretty unique. This one I made is a semi-auto, and the hopper holds up to 34 rounds (red rods). I am currently tweaking it to be fully-auto, but this is good for now.

Semi-Auto guns aren't really semi-auto?

I'm somewhat new at this knex stuff, but I built several guns already. I first search what I want to build; for example, if I want to build a "semi-auto pistol" I type in that. Whatever looks cool as the main picture for the instructables is selected in a new tab. Thus, the comments and rating helps me proceed to 'filter' the good stuff and the bad stuff. I like knex, as well as this site. But what's bugging me is that I'm not too sure that people know what 'semi-auto' really is. I don't want to be offensive or anything, but it's really ticking me off. I'm trying to find a gun that's semi-auto, meaning: A type of firearm that fires a single bullet each time the trigger is pulled, automatically ejects the spent cartridge, chambers a fresh cartridge from its magazine, and is immediately ready to fire another shot. So, in knex terms: A gun that fires a single bullet, loads the bullet automatically, with the rod automatically pulled back. I'm sure plenty of people have done this before. Search for semi-automatic knex guns in the search bar. See the title 'REAL semi-auto knex gun!!!!1'. See a really nice gun, think it's awesome and stuff. Then when you finish building it, you use it and you have to pull back the rod manually. It seems that semi-auto on this site is really a gun with a magazine and a rubber band to push the bullets in the mag up or a mag pusher. But in reality, it's not. We need to make up a name or something to show to someone what's the difference between semi-auto and semi-manual. PS: If you know any guns that have a real semi-auto function to it, can you PM me or comment below? Thanks :) PSS: I added the '1' up there as exaggeration.. though some people actually do that, smh..

semi auto knex gun? Answered

I have made a semi auto knex gun but at the moment it is full auto for the fact i pull the trigger once and the elastics fire of so fast the trigger cant get time to lock back into place to give the mag pusher time to load the next round. does anyone have an idea of how to slow the mechanism down?

My TRUE Semi auto

The Semi Auto I have came back to my semi auto, I made one when I first started knex, barely shot, not reliable at all, I've remade it over the past 4 days, it has a new mag, new system, new internal mag pusher and new way of loading. Pros Semi auto Removeable mag Internal pusher Takes less than 30 seconds to detach the mag, load 14 bullets and re-attatch the mag Not many pieces Shoots in an almost straight line Cons Bad range (around 7-10) Not that reliable Jams if not fired right Uses 11 Y clips

Semi Autos (Face the Truth)

Semi auto guns are very cool. I agree but we have to face the facts. The way a real gun works is the pin hit the primer on the bullet igniting the powder and the extra gas is used to release the shell and load another bullet. How can we replicate this powerfully. Even today real bolt action guns are more powerful than semi autos. I am afraid to say that is just isn't practical to make that out of knex.

RBGs- True Semi-Auto or Not?

Alright so I'm having a "civilized discussion" with Mykhailo/whoever you call him now and he's arguing, just like plenty of others, that RBGs are not true semi auto because of the reasons soon to be listed. Comparing RBGs to real firearms (which I understand are not exactly alike in plenty of ways) I find that they're more like a true semi automatic than what you guys would call true semi autos. Just listen to my argument and see if you can at least understand what I'm saying. The majority of your arguments for why an RBG is not a true semi auto is that you have to prepare a band for every shot. Some of you compare this to cocking a weapon more than once for every shot. I find this a bad comparison. In real fire arms, the firing mechanism isn't what launches the bullet. It triggers the powder which then in turn shoots the bullet. An RBG is similar to this. Each rubber band acts as the "powder" for the bullets. The RBG firing mechanism simply sets them off. You also have to prepare real cartridges too. Does it matter if it's you or not who makes them? You still have to mix up and add the powder all the same as you must add RBs to your weapon. This brought up the argument that it's still not a true semi auto because the bullet isn't self-contained in an RBG. OK I have two things to say to this. First, now bullets decide the firing mode of a weapon? Secondly, what about ooda's RBG ammo. That's self contained, isn't it? The bullet is attached directly to the RBG. What do you guys think?

Semi-Auto Revolver Is Finally Posted

Well, now I am out of work I'm finally posting it despite its faults (which I'm sure someone can fix). So I should get it posted this week all being well. It fires oodammo, white and blue rods, the range I have not tested as it varies on the bullet locks (which are worn on mine) but it is probably only around 20 feet. The trigger pull is heavy and occasionally painful if you follow through, but who cares it's freakin' semi-auto!! :D. E VOILA!  https://www.instructables.com/id/Knex-Semi-Auto-Revolver/

SAOG- Semi-Automatic Oodjamaflick Gun

This is a semi-automatic oodjamaflick gun, or SAOG. I say oodjamaflick, but it's not actually oodjamaflicks, just a modified oodjamaflick. To the uninitiated, oodjamaflicks are the original oodammo; ammo that oodalumps' made for rubber band guns four months before oodammo. Nothing special, just a semi-automatic that gets more than ten feet. Fifteen feet more, to be precise. Total of twenty-five feet. That is, if you want a four round magazine. Here's the thing about this gun, you can have a higher magazine capacity if you are willing to sacrifice some range. You could have a one shot that went about forty feet- but then it wouldn't be semi-automatic, would it? Hit the link for more pictures and a video. http://knexinnovation.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t;=989 Or a real link for those too lazy to copy/paste. knexinnovation.net/forums/viewtopic.php Yes, this is a shameless promotion for KI and it's ability to host pictures from other sites easily.

true semi auto gun crossover

I have seen and built both ednator55's true semi auto gun and bballkidx's hammer operated pistol. The pistol swings a hammer to hit a rod and the semi a auto rotates a connecter to move a ramrod. This is more of an idea than a question but could somebody try to make a double action type gun. It is semi auto because it rotates a connecter but at the same time hits the bullet with a hammer. This would be most similar to some revolvers. This is just throwing an idea out there but I would be very grateful if somebody built this. Automatic 5 stars in my book. The semi auto gun is weak but semi auto. The hammer gun is strong and single shot. The crossover gun doesn't have to include a mag but it would be nice. Pmgroundhog

My new semi-auto RBG

This is my new semi-automatic, true trigger RBG. Normally nothing new. But this one can take twice the amount of rubberbands. Thanks to some creative use of a red gear ( I'm aware I didn't use an actual red gear, that's because I didn't have any. So I sliced the pegs of a yellow gear ) This actually started as a mod for Dsman1's RBG, but it turned out to be something different. It still uses the system that is somewhat his, of a red gear turning a blue gear. It can take 15+ rubberbands without tearing itself apart ( Nearly does though ;). My record is about 18 or 19 rubberbands on it. The reliability isn't 100%, because there is an uneven amount of pits in a red gear (33), which are divided by 4 stages. So it's hard to get a good pattern for the rubber bands to shoot of. This basicly means that sometimes it either won't shoot, or it will shoot 2 rubberbands at once. I don't know if this is a problem with an actual red gear though, since my altered yellow is far from perfect. Do you want me to post it, or is there no demand for a new RBG?

Definition of semi-auto when it comes to K'nex?

What is it?I think we can narrow it down to 2 options:1. A gun that shoots every time you pull the trigger. Preloading for each shot (bullets or other methods):Put pieces in the gun.Pull something back for each shot.Pull trigger.2. A gun that shoots every time you pull the trigger. Without any other preparation:Put pieces in the gun.Pull trigger. In my opinion, #1 Is the real life equivalent to gluing several old fashioned muskets together. It's true that you get a shot for each trigger you pull, but that's after loading every musket. (best to just carry the guns separately).#2 is closer to the real life definition. In a semi-auto pistol you don't pull the slide back 7 times to get 7 shots. So I'm going with #2 as the correct definition.

K'Nex Semi/Fully Automatic Gun Concept

Alright, I stink at MSPaint, so here it goes: LouisXIV's famous semi-automatic "gun" (https://www.instructables.com/id/Knex_Powerful_Semi_Automatic_Gun_1/) has a lot to do with this. I was thinking how to make a semi-automatic gun when this idea popped into my head: You have a bunch of grey connectors in the barrel at a time, but either a gap just barely too small for them at the end, or LousXIV's mechanism, is at the end, trapping the bullets in unless under pressure. There is a notched firing pin* that you pull back (see http://www.google.com/imgres?q=toy+smg&um;=1&hl;=en&sa;=N&rlz;=1C1CHNV_enUS370US370&biw;=1680&bih;=935&tbm;=isch&tbnid;=ijx0IyYxpqN_jM:&imgrefurl;=http://www.kapowwe.com/toy-mp5.html&docid;=dBcMAxK0eQoSqM&w;=573&h;=297&ei;=zSMzTtSuDY260AGU2bWMDA&zoom;=1 It is a toy that one of my friends used to have, you pull the orange tab back, and as long as you hold the trigger, the tab keeps going forward until you have to pull it back again). The trigger is a regular trigger, say, from TheDunkis' TDS, the difference being that the part in the barrel ends in a green rod to lock into the firing pin. There is tremendous pressure on the firing pin. When the trigger is pulled, the firing pin pushes and squeezes the grey connector(s) out of the barrel, but when the trigger is released, it locks into one of the notches on the firing pin. I am not sure about a detachable magazine yet, as they would all have to be lined up facing the end, but you could certainly load in a bunch at a time and see. *A firing pin with a concept used in conjunction with motors to make an automatic turret, you would have, for example, a grey rod, and lined on it are a grey connector, two blue spacers, grey connector, etc. **THIS GETS ITS POWER FROM THE PRESSURE ON THE FIRING PIN FROM THE RUBBER BANDS, THERE IS NO STRIKING MECHANISM. LIKE ALL CONCEPTS, IT WOULD PROBABLY BE WEAK, BUT CONCEPT GUNS ARE (ALMOST) NEVER MADE FOR POWER. Feedback is appreciated.

how do u make truly semi automatic( just tap trigger) gun made out of knex shoot farther? Answered

Question by dillon27   |  last reply

Why you can never have a "true" knex semi auto with decent power/range.

Ok here goes I will try to simplify my theory down a bit so everyone can understand: basicly energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be converted, eg kinetic into heat, chemical into kinetic ect. Knex guns are no exception, the enery has to come from somewhere, in most guns this takes the form of pulling back a pin or rubberbands to create potential energy, this is released when the trigger is pulled, this potential energy is converted into kinetc energy and this is how the bullet is fired. A semi automatic gun is required to fire every time the trigger is pulled, but the energy still has to come from somewhere. RBG's take this into account as each band is pulled back and has potential energy stored, however many knexer's opinions differ on whether this is truly semi automatic, many calling this type of gun a psuedo semi auto. Other guns use the energy imparted on pulling the trigger to create the potential energy to power the bullet, this is considered to be a true semi auto, however the main drawback of this system is that the amount of energy that can be transfered from the trigger to the bullet is very limited, therefore this type of mechinism has limited power. So if the problem is energy how do we solve this? one possible answer is to have an extra source of energy, such as a motor or a winding system that puts extra energy back into the system, however this approach will not give you a "true" semi auto as you will have to have an external source of energy, that and the fact that knex motors do not have the power and torque needed for this system. So what's your opinion, do you have anything to add?

The KLS V.2 *Updated*

Can I get a W00T for summer??? Now that summer is here I have had a bit of extra time to dedicate to my gun building, and I have completed my Semi Auto.  The Kinetic Last Stand is a small, compact semi auto rifle that utilizes 4-shot low cap removable mags and has a firing mechanism that originated from Louis XIV's semi auto, just a bit more complex.  My idea of this has been around since christmas when I posted pictures of my first attempt of this gun, however It required too much energy to pull the trigger that was necessary, and so I created the V.2, which uses a simpler, more efficient trigger that allows you to utilize the energy of 2 #64's with little effort.  The only downside is the mag capacity, which can be improved by a about 1.5 for every half moon connector that the mag, and in turn, stock, is extended.   Thats about it...the video will demonstrate just how impressive this gun is. Maxed out means the maximum amount of power I would use for a war for the sake of keeping a high rate of fire. Let me know what you think!

New (plausible) semi auto knex gun idea.

Ok, i came up with a TRUE semi auto idea for K'NEX guns. It works like this. The trigger is up at the very front of the barrel. The ram has a bunch of bullets in front of it. Every time you pull the trigger the ram moves forward, and a bullets pops out. Also, if you hold the trigger, everything will fly out at once, creating full auto!         Please give me credit AND a link if you use this.
