I am working on a soldier zombie costume, but people keep telling me that I look like a nazi soldier. They have me worried that my costume will be in bad taste, but I am not so sure as there are no actual nazi symbols on my costume. Should I risk looking like a nazi or should I try to distance myself from that? If you think I should distance myself from that, how would you recommend doing that? Some have suggested that I embrace it and wear a red armband, but with a mocking symbol, like a smiley-face or a peace symbol, a sort of mild satire.

Hi people, I need to make about a dozen space helmets for a school production (preps to grade 2 I'm in Australia so not sure what year level that equates to (6-8 year olds) ). I know how to do the suits but need a quick, cheap, relatively authentic helmet. That is easy to make with easily found objects. Thanks to any that can help

So I was hanging out with some buddies of mine in my spartan costume...betcha can't guess which one is me. My costume consists of: Helmet - Cardboard shape, covered in bondo and spraypainted. Bicycle helmey pads inside. Shield - Cut plywood, with a cardboard lambda, covered in bondo and spraypainted. Polyester straps are riveted/gorilla glued on the back. Cape - Scarlet cotton fabric with polyester straps to keep it from choking me. Beard/abs - Mom's eyebrow pencil...If you have experience with spirit gum, use that and fake hair, unfortunately, it didn't cooperate with me. Pantalones - If you're feeling frisky, wear a speedo, if not, brown shorts are acceptable

Hi, I am a public school teacher in the Atlanta area. I am desperately seeking sites where my students can download free images. squirrelnet directed me to your site for a toilet paper mummy. However, I cannot use your great pictures there because there is a man on a motorcycle with his middle finger raised. Is there any portion of your site where I can direct my students to a "safe zone?" I don't think that picture, although cute for the adult crowd, is really necessary. The other photos are spectacular. Here we are, just public school teachers, trying to get a little help. Don't condemn me for being "fussy." I am the least fussy person you could meet, but keeping my job means finding safe stuff on the internet for my students. And remember, most of you owe your jobs to a set of caring teachers. We are planning to do several models from Star Wars as Halloween Costumes. I have a papercraft model of an AT-ST, Darth Vaders Tie Fighter, and an Xwing. And potentially a millenium Falcon. These are currently 1/16" models. Our plan is to scale them up to about 6 feet to use as a pattern then put them over cardboard or corrugated board. What is the best/cheapest way to achieve this? I have them in a locked .pbo file and in pdf

There's a lot of costuming content on this site, and from what I can tell there are only two channels that currently contain these instructables; halloween and props. Some of the costumes aren't really "props", and "halloween" (1.) includes all kinds of non-costume related things and (2.) doesn't really cover costumes for cosplaying or larping or whatever other reason you might have for dressing up. I love costuming and I want to suggest a channel specifically for costumes, costume accessories, and the like. That way if anyone wants to look at costume ideas they don't have to sift through hundreds of ways to decorate your house for halloween. ::EDIT:: It appears a channel has been added for costuming since I asked this question. Thanks Instructables!

Closing in on midnight on October 30th, and I found myself in a familiar situation . . .Making last-minute Halloween costumes and props for my kids! Here's a photo of my late-night kitchen table, where I was working on a homemade hover board prop from the "Back to the Future" movies. I paused for a moment to survey the scene and snap a photo, and couldn't help taking note of the silliness of the whole thing. It's midnight. I'm tired. My kids are asleep. And I'm up making this thing. WHY?Why do we do this to ourselves?! - - - - - -I know why I do it, but tell me why you do!Were you up late making stuff for yourself or for your kids? Share your reasoning and thoughts on being a creative Halloweener in the comments below. Be sure to include a photo or two of what you were making!

Hi, I want to make the costume from the video game Dead Space. I want it to be durable, and good quality, but not too expensive. I would like to ask for some hints, as to what materials to use. What would be the best and the easiest material. Also, Im starting with the helmet, in case it will turn out to be too expensive, ill just stick with that and make the rest of the suit on another occasion. thank you for all your help ****note about the picture***** my helmet will have a blue film instead of the mesh and will light up like in the game. also, i plan on installing two pc fans into it, for ventilation.
I need to cover a power wheelchair with a costume so it looks like she is Mary riding her donkey to the manager for Christmas. Please give me some suggestions. Thank you

The base outfit is made of a new poly-cotton coverall. I need it to look like it has been worn and worked in a lot. Bleach just made it look yellower in a few places. Sandpaper makes it look fuzzy. I'm looking for ideas and suggestions. Someone said to take it out to a dirt road and drive over it a few times. I'm almost ready to try that.

How can I make a crocodile for a small child(ren) to wear in Peter Pan? It would be cool if he could open and close the mouth while the other child (in the back) would hit a wooden block for the tick tock. We have a frog costume, which will cover the kids, but can't figure out how to do a head. It needs to be simple - I'm no craftsman, but I can sew & glue.

So, what are your Halloween plans? Are you going to a party? Going trick or treating, or just going to stay home and watch Demons 2? This year, I'm not going to do much. Just paint my face white, and put on black lipstick and eyeliner while walking around the neighborhood. (Okay, I may go to some houses for candy =P)

Hey guys, I have a pretty big dilemma - I don't know what to be for Halloween. The main problem is that last year, I went as Cookie Monster. Now, this wasn't some dinky store bought costume - it was seriously legit. It looked like a professional mascot costume. I wish I could upload some pictures to show you how serious I am. Oh well. Anyways, I want to out-do myself this year (or at least equal last year). I love morph suits (I have 2 already), and thought of going as Slenderman, but I then thought that that might not be all that original. Now, I know this is sort of contradictory for me to ask, but does anyone have any original (or not super-easily thought of) ideas for costumes that would be frickin' epic? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all, a friend of mine asked me to help him design and build a costume for a stage show he's doing; he will be wearing a monster mask and needs an inflatable "brain" to suddenly inflate (note, he changes costumes every 5-10 minutes during the show so it's something that needs to be fairly portable and easy to change into). We tried using CO2 canisters with balloons, a good effect but not nearly big enough. I'm thinking about some kind of air pig with a valve that he can clip a connecting hose to. If anyone has done anything like this or has a good recommendation I'd love to hear! Many thanks, DAZU

Romantic and lovely cosplay costumes are widely used in girl theme anime. This kind of cosplay costumes has elegant style, sweet color, also with lovely lace, can make you lovely and sweet. In many cosplay show, I have seen vocaloid cosplay costumes in xcoser.com, it also can be other’s love. Compare to it, Attack on titan cosplay will be very cool! Do you like attack on titan style or sweet style?

I've loved this book series for so long and recently I have gotten into costuming. I (obviously) want to make a Ranger costume but I don't think the covers of the book are all that accurate (the cloaks are green while in the book they're mottled grey/brown/green). A similar question I posted when I first signed up to this website returned the answer that the Saxe Knife looks like a Bowie knife, but I don't know if that quite fits... Any suggestions would be helpful, also any tips for the rest of the costume would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :) UPDATE: I'd like to rephrase this slightly. Does anyone know of a blade shape that couldsuit the saxe knife? It is a costume of a fictional item, not a re-creation so I figure a stylized shape would be better. UPD
