And it needs to allow illegal software like warez and such and please don't ask why.
I've been doing a lot of PC gaming lately (Minecraft, Team Fortress, A.V.A, etc.) and I would like to start hosting my own multiplayer servers. However, I hear constant warnings about laggy gameplay when you try to host and play on a server. Any help?

Hi everyone, I am a long-time knex gun user and Instructable maker, you probably don't remember me because I am using this new account and my old one has been inactive for years. More to the point, i am going to hold a knex gun instructable contest not run by the site administrators. Because of this, the only reward is fame and glory among the knexers' What you need to do to be in this contest is make an instructable of a knex gun and give the link to it on this forum. You will have to design a gun that you do not cock, has no block trigger, and has a very easy instructable. A few suggestions for this design are listed below. Technical requirements: ~ The gun must have no block trigger ~ The gun must shoot any rod ranging from the smallest size to the second largest - red suggestions for making a far better gun than anyone else: ~ make as many extra / removable components as possible ~ make a hopper or way to have multiple shots at one time in the gun ~ use as few and as simple foreign objects as you can get your hands on ~ Make the gun with less than 250 pieces ~ Make the instructable as good as you can, after all, even if you get the gun, you have to show it here!

I might be wiling to host it in Windsor or maybe someone from Michigan might be willing to host one in detroit........ or even Ohio somewhere. I'd set it up with the instructables people if you wanted me to host it........... but only if there are enough people in the area or traveling distance that are interested

So, soon it will be my 18th Birthday and instead of going out for a meal I have decided that I want to host a Nerf gun war of sorts. A while back me and some friends had a small nerf battle in my attic which was a success-ish. Really what I would like to do is to try to generate some game types as although firing at everyone is fun, I think rules need to be implemented. I plan to invite around 15-20 people and host it at the local scout hut as I helped out with the Beaver section there for a time. Some ideas I've had are team deathmatch, capture the flag and zombies, if anyone has tried out anything like this any feedback on how it went, or ideas of rules would be great, Thanks in advance, Jack

The Girls Scouts are hosting an Earth Day event that is about preparedness and the skills needed to be a survivor. I'm trying to create stations or booths with different skills for students and adults to try or learn. For example, one station will be learning knots. Another station will have simple materials for participants to make a makeshift shelter. I need ideas that are fairly simple to teach or show at that stations that can be done in less than 10 minutes. I'm also interested in a game. Thank you.

Hello, I became pro for two years yesterday, and I have given away 2 of my 40 patches, and I doubt I will ever give them all away without hosting a few contests. The contest is to submit an Instructable (Must have instructions) that is Christmas themed, and send the link to me by private message. The winner will get a specially made patch. The runners up will be featured in a guide. The deadline is January 12th 2011. Thanks, Flannel UK

Knex Flux is live now, you can visit it here: http://knexflux.net So, I randomly had that idea and Sandro likes it too and stuff, so yeah, is there any demand for a general-purpose knex forum uniting all the parts of the knex community under one hood? Of course such a forum would need people who actually use it, thus me asking if it would be used ^.^ I could do the hosting, I know my way around such stuff :) This would be in particular good for sharing progress, which isn't really possible on instructables, sharing small projects you don't think are worth a whole new instructable, helping others out and of course all just having a fun time together!

(Sorry for being a bit harsh) And also, with a massive lack of presentation, pictures, and/or prizes. I mean, in about the last week, I've seen at least 10 knex competitions and challenges. Well sure, maybe the odd knex competition or whatever, but not loads of comptetitions that are stupid. Sorry to the guy who did this, but I mean, someone made a ball machine contest, no presentation, picture or prize, with 3 random categories. I mean, theres nothing new, nothing challenging, so whats the point? Maybe you thought this whole topic was harsh and mean, but see the other side of it. STOP POSTING STUPID CONTESTS!

Can anyone suggest a mailing list or group hosting solution that is private, self-serve, and extremely simple? I volunteered to setup a mailing list or group for my neighborhood. I just made a Google group, and checked out the invitation and acceptance process, which requires creating a Google account. I feel that creating another account might be burdensome or too complicated for some of my neighbors -- especially the older ones who stay at home peering out of their windows all day that I specifically want included. Mailman does pretty much what I want, but I don't think it's ready for someone who already has trouble dealing with email at all. Yahoo groups seems to be a default solution, but in all honesty, it is a total mess. Am I not giving my older neighbors enough credit? How have you made mailing lists for multi-generational groups?

I was wondering if people would use a new knex site devoted completely to knex weapons? I have the knowledge to do it, but don’t know if it would be worth it. I AM NOT OUT TO MAKE MONEY. I just want to have a new site where I won’t have to sift through hundreds of useless guns (IE. block triggers, old "semi auto's") and models so bad that you think it’s a plane when its supposed to be a car. The only adds that i would put on the site would be to cover the cost of hosting. If you would use the site then please leave a comment saying so, and if you wouldnt use the site then please say why. For me to create this then i must have at least 15 people who will be active. 5/15 people 0 people to help If you are interested in helping the please pm me.

For the past few days, i've not been able to access the site, nor its forum from any of the computers i've tried with. All i get is a screen that tells me: "Error establishing a database connection This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at 188.8.131.52. This could mean your host's database server is down." Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Has anyone heard from a moderator, or do they know where i can contact a mod? I'm starting to get worried about this.

This is a semi-automatic oodjamaflick gun, or SAOG. I say oodjamaflick, but it's not actually oodjamaflicks, just a modified oodjamaflick. To the uninitiated, oodjamaflicks are the original oodammo; ammo that oodalumps' made for rubber band guns four months before oodammo. Nothing special, just a semi-automatic that gets more than ten feet. Fifteen feet more, to be precise. Total of twenty-five feet. That is, if you want a four round magazine. Here's the thing about this gun, you can have a higher magazine capacity if you are willing to sacrifice some range. You could have a one shot that went about forty feet- but then it wouldn't be semi-automatic, would it? Hit the link for more pictures and a video. http://knexinnovation.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t;=989 Or a real link for those too lazy to copy/paste. knexinnovation.net/forums/viewtopic.php Yes, this is a shameless promotion for KI and it's ability to host pictures from other sites easily.

They've probably had countless contests in the past but I've only noticed/entered this one because I knew/was following the host of this particular contest before he joined Faze. I might never do another COD edit again, who knows. The only thing that's certain is that I'll never edit ghosts, that game is terribad. Hey everyone, I work for Education.com, and we just kicked off a super fun (free!) camp we thought the Instructables gang might love. It's a DIY Summer Reading Camp. Everything you need to host a summer’s worth of fun for your kiddos, while also sneaking in a bit of learning that will keep them off the dreaded “Summer Slide”. (Did you know that kids who don’t read during the summer can go back to school in fall up to THREE grade levels behind where they were when they left for summer break? Scary huh?) Each week has a theme your kids will love (“Bugs”, “Heroes”, “Make Music”, etc) and at least a dozen activities you can do with your kids using materials you likely have around the house already. You can pick and choose which activities to do each week and you can go through the themes in any order you’d like. Enjoy! www.education.com/summer-reading

This is the first random knex contest posted under its new host, me. I'm taking the operation over. Sorry I couldn't post it yesterday, but my house got broken into and under that commotion, I forgot. Anyways, the title is what it is. You can modify ANY knex design on the internet posted (with one exception see below). However, there are guidelines: Must Improve on original design. The improvements can be on performance, efficiency, parts conservation, whatever. However, adding random useless crap on a design is NOT acceptable. Must be original. The design doesn't have to be yours but the MODS you make to it do. The more improved the design is, the best chance you have of winning. Don't limit yourself to just guns, you can mod ANY design. The one design I will NOT allow in the contest is the TR since it is so open to mods and there is a variety of options for it. So keep that in mind. Accepted entries: Knex gun builder- Modded ZKAR bolt RC-1207SEV- Modded freeslinger Knexfreek- Freeslinger to tankbow transformation. Tigernod- OSNJCKMA2 mods (Can't remember the abbreviation) Edit- The winner is....Tigernod and his modded OSNJCKMA2. Congrats! Expect a patch soon Tigernod.

This past Sunday I went to the Make SF meeting graciously hosted by Tech Shop in Menlo Park. I unfortunately do not have names and/or links to work relevant to the presenters, but I will try to give an overview of what I saw as best I can.The first presenter showed a musical interface he made with a laser pointer and a photocell that altered a track of music to correspond with the disturbance of the surface of the water. He told of how he embedded many such bowls in a table and had the laser pointers shining straight down into them from the ceiling so that it seemed as though the water itself was changing the music. He used it a party the previous weekend (side note: I never get invited to parties nearly as cool).Followed him was a man that created a device to interface with a computer as a USB HID. In short, it pretended to be a keyboard, mouse or joystick and then you could send it commands from a micro controller. He had his device installed in a model plane and based on accelerometer readings used it to control a flight simulator. Next there was a man from Google who showed the low-cost Arduino based glowing orb that he was working on based on the Arduino Orb Build Warden. This was presented as one possible solution to have widespread visual indication for monitoring the status of their ongoing projects. Presenter #4 promised not to have anything quite as high tech and passed around a copper bracelet made using copper wiring and traditional cold forge methods. He then spent the rest of the time talking about how he welded the ends of the bracelet with a tig welder made from a microwave much like this one. And even though he promised not to have anything technical to show, he went into the finer points of building your own microwave welder in regards to transformer modification and the importance of finding a reliable metal foot pedal to control the weld. Lastly, someone came from Shape Lock and demonstrated his "Ultra-High Molecular Weight Low Temperature Thermoplastic." Or in other words, you stick it in a pot of water heated to 160 degrees for a few minutes, take it out and bend it into any shape you want, let it harden for a few more minutes and you're good to go. You can use it to quickly and easily make all kinds of high-strength custom shapes and fasteners. It is actually very cool. However, remember, don't stick it in your mouth (or anywhere else!) because albeit non-toxic it will lock your jaw shut and good luck getting that back to 160 degrees. Oh... I should also mention that the meeting was organized and hosted by the legendary Andrew Milmoe. And that summarizes what I saw and heard. The next meeting will most likely be the first Sunday in March and you can get more info on the official Make SF site. Also, there will be a Make SF social gathering next Thursday at Mars Bar in San Francisco (7th and Brannan). It starts around 7 PM and there is rumored to be a special robotic guest attending. (if anyone has more info on any of the presenters please let me know)

So another year has rolled by. Many new things were posted, some were pretty good! Now I am hosting a community contest to see what people liked the most. There are 3 categories, and you can select up to 3 creations for each category (You don't have to pick 3 if you don't want to). So you can pick your top 9 most favorite creations of the year. The categories are: Best overall Knex gun Best Knex replica Best non-gun. You can select a creation to go in more than 1 category. For example, if you thought a knex replica of a real life rollercoaster was good, you could vote for it in the "Best knex replica" and "Best non-knex gun" categories. There are some restrictions of course. The creations you vote for HAVE to have a post date of 2010. Preview pictures can be posted earlier than that, but they have to be posted this year. Also, you cannot pick a gun that you made. For example, I cannot vote for my Halo Battle rifle to go in "Best knex replica". If the creation you vote for came from a site outside of Instructables or KI (like Youtube), you will need to provide a link for it. What are you waiting for? Get voiting! I'm giving away patches to the top 3 winners in each category, plus a patch for my personal favorite, which makes 10. Voting ends Monday, January 24, which gives you 3 weeks to vote.

I will be hosting 2 K’nex Challenges: K’nex Guns K’nex Projects ( no rubber bands/guns) Ball machines / roller coasters / cranes / cars / armour, etc. No rubber bands or k'nex guns in any of the pictures or even mentioned in the description. Seriously. You can enter both contests, but absolutely no guns allowed in the 'K'nex Projects' challenge. Challenge yourself to meet either of these 2 contest criteria. The projects that are going to win the top prizes are ones that are original, creative and have amazing pictures. Since making awesome K'nex projects takes time each of these Weekly Play Challenge will be 2 weeks, this forum posting is to give you guys a heads-up. Both contests start next week. I want the K'nex crew to smash the previous Weekly Challenges, break 100+ projects and be the first to win top prize for these quick-fire challenges. Please wait until the contest launches to post your entries. K'nex challenges start next week, good luck! Both Challenges are now LIVE! K'nex Challenge is now over. Good luck!

From the BBC: An all-female doo-wop band whose image is believed to have been the first photo uploaded to the fledgling world wide web is to play its final gig. Les Horribles Cernettes take their swansong at the Hardronic Festival at the Cern laboratory in Geneva - the birthplace of the web. A picture of the women was uploaded to the web on 18 July, 1992, by web creator - and fan - Tim Berners-Lee. He wanted it to test out the version of the web he was working on at Cern. Press tornado The band was founded in 1990 by Michele de Gennaro who worked at Cern as a graphic designer. The Cernettes get their name from the initials of the giant particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider, used at Cern to investigate fundamental physics. The group has won fame in scientific circles by performing at Cern social gatherings and physics conferences. The women sing classic 60s pop songs, as well as their own compositions such as Microwave Love, Collider and My Sweetheart is a Nobel Prize. The gig on 21 July at the annual Cern music festival will be their first performance for five years - and is billed as their last. Jim Halley, manager of the band, said there had been a huge upsurge of interest in the band because of the anniversary of the image being uploaded to the web. The band was even featured on the US talkshow hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, said Mr Halley. "This photo was one of those that changed the web, from a platform for physics documentation, to a media for our lives," [the band] said. Les Horribles Cernettes.

Meet Tim Anderson! He's the co-founder of Z-Corp 3D printers, host of the Know How Show, author of the Heirloom Technology column in MAKE magazine, and the most prolific Instructables author with 222 projects and counting! So, besides teaching you how to get a free yacht and how to fly a hydrofoil, what is Tim doing for the betterment of humanity? Here's how he describes it in his profile: Tim's philosophy involves building minimum-consumption personal infrastructure from recycled scavenged materials. Redirecting the waste stream. Doing much with little. A reverse peace-corps to learn from poor people all over the world. In practice, this means traveling the world documenting traditional Pacific Island sailing canoes, collecting handy tricks from Australia, Guatemala, Indonesia, and the US, and teaching us how to repair or reuse almost anything. (When you're done with the Handy Tricks series, check out his Instructable showing How Not To.) You can also learn how to move a tree, or keep an old truck running. He's a believer in Garbage Santa, who leaves "trash" treats for creative people to find and repurpose, and can do almost anything with recycled bike innertubes. He's also an enthusiastic sailor, bicyclist, and kiter who builds all of his own equipment - check out his ice gear in this video: So, are you inspired yet? Do you believe in Garbage Santa? And which Tim Anderson project are you most likely to try? This post has been sponsored by Pepsi. The Pepsi Refresh Project celebrates the people, businesses, and non-profits with ideas that will have a positive effect on our world.

I think we all know how slowly things have been going for a while on this site, and I've been thinking, we need to encourage some innovation. So I'm holding a new competition, to see what we can get out of people when they have a bit more motivation. I'll need two impartial judges (to work with me), and a lot of contestants. The way this competition will work is as follows: The judges will mark each entry on a certain set of criteria, depending on the specification and brief for each round. There will be 5 rounds. The first round is free for anybody to enter. The 20 best-performing entries will move through to round two, with a new brief. The second round is only accessible to the top 20 from round one. The top 10 entries will make it through to round three. Round three will host 10 candidates, and the top 5 entries will proceed to round 4. Following round 4, the final three contestants will be chosen, and round five will be the final round/decider, and one winner will be chosen. The winner will recieve a prize (to be agreed upon with the judges), possibly pro membership, and will definitely recieve a dedicated forum topic congratulating them on their victory. Judges I will need a pair of judges who are willing to give up time to build creations, and are able to talk on Skype or MSN about the competition for judging purposes. The judges will be impartial to the competition (i.e. can't enter) and non-biassed. Please contact me here. As soon as the judges have been appointed and the topic and deadlines are chosen, I will post a topic signalling the start of round one. Please do not post any entries until the opening date as the entries will be produced to fit a brief agreed by the judges. Judge 1: The Jamalam Judge 2: DJ Radio Judge 3: Lowney I have nothing else to say, but any requests for briefs and applications for judge-hood are welcome. Round one is now live!

This round's chosen topic is: Weapons Any weapons are permitted for posting, so long as: -They are functional - all guns must fire. -They are your own design - this means that no modifications of other guns will be accepted. -They are posted between the deadline times. Any posted outside these times will not be accepted. It is also not acceptable to re-post. -They are posted on the site in the form of an Instructable, Slideshow, or Video. The more detailed your submission is, the more likely we are to understand your submission. Please use correct english and annotate where appropriate - we are judging on many criteria! -They only use K'nex pieces, rubber bands (or other means of elastic potential energy storage) string and tape. Cut pieces are permitted, but do take into account that more cut pieces won't get you better marks. We are trying to maximise the potential of K'nex, not mutilate our pieces! Please post your entries at any time from: 12:00 Midday GMT September 1st and no later than: 12:00 Midday GMT October 1st. (Central American Time = 6:00 AM) Entries will not be accepted if they are posted beyond the deadline, no exceptions. To submit your entry, post an Instructable, Slideshow or Video of your weapon, titled "KIC Entry: - " You must post a link to me on this forum topic, or via Private Message. Judging will commence immediately following the final deadline. The top 20 highest-scoring entries will qualify for round 2. Please use this topic for general discussion and submission - no spam please, it makes judging and entry accepting much harder. You have one month. Good luck! List of Entries: Beanieostrich Seleziona Masterdude KnexFreak360 rec0n EDIT: Thanks to a suggestion from TheDunkis and Dj Radio, I am allowing teams to work on a single project in order to share ideas and optimise the weapon.

K'NEX CONTEST IS CLOSED! Check out the WINNERS! Update: August 20, 2013 The winners have been announced, check them out here. Thanks again everyone for such amazing entries. We had 12 judges rack their brains over all the entries, the tallied results were very close - the sign of a very hard contest to judge. The technical merits of the projects cannot be understated, all of the entries were original and very creative. Great work, look for something like this to happen again next year! Update: August 14, 2013 We've just wrapped up the K'NEX (and LEGO) contest(s), and I'm happy to say that you guys did not disappoint! With such a diverse and technical array of projects, I have my work cut out for me to try and pick the finalists. I'd like to thank everyone who entered, and a special thanks to those who created more than one entry. Before this contest started, running a K'NEX-themed contest was an unknown. The K'NEX community here has always been a strong and independent, and I didn't want to engage with you and run a contest if I couldn't serve your interests. There was some contention about hosting a contest that may (probably would) involve a fair amount of weaponry. While this is a valid concern I feel like that is part of the fabric that makes the community here so great. It was important for me to have a mix of projects that covered all areas of K'NEX. I am proud to say that the majority of the weapons that were entered were well photographed and professionally presented. I'm looking forward to making this an annual thing for you, but could use your feedback to make it even better next time! If you have any feedback on what you'd like to see differently please feel free to leave a comment below, or send me a PM. I'm going to hide out for the next few days and pour over the entries to try and nit-pick all 200 entries into just 18 finalists. Thank you, everyone, for making this contest such a success. _mike Editor of Play, Instructables.com

Greetings, Instructables K'NEX Community! Now it's time for the Unofficial Instructables 2017 K'NEX Gun Contest! I am hosting this contest to hopefully stir up some creativity in the Instructables K'nex Community. There will be five winners, each of which will receive a place in my "Top Five New K'NEX Guns of 2017" collection. I will also post pictures of the winners' guns on this forum topic when the contest is over, and the winners will each receive a custom image "trophy" to put on their profile page if they wish. I will try to build as many of the entered guns as I can, and I will judge them by range, efficiency, accuracy, and innovation. If you wish to enter in this contest, here are the rules: 1. The K'NEX gun that you wish to enter in the contest has to have been posted to Instructables.com from Jan. 1, 2017 and up. No older entries will be accepted. Also, it must be working. Test your gun out several times before posting it. 2. Your entry must be a fully documented Instructable, with pictures and full instructions, as well as information about the gun. A video would be preferred, but is not necessary. Multiple entries are allowed, but please take your time building your gun. 3. The contest is active from January 16th, 2017 - July 4th, 2017 (Updated). No entries will be accepted unless they meet these deadlines. 4. To enter, you must build a K'NEX gun in 2017 and post it to Instructables.com according to the guidelines listed above. Then, you must provide a link to your instructable in the comments below. All entries will be posted above once accepted. Now that the guidelines are clear, get out your K'NEX, awaken your imagination, and start building! I am looking forward to seeing, building, and testing the entries. Hopefully this contest will stir up some creativity in the Instructables K'NEX Community. If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding this contest, please PM me, or let me know in the comments below. Well, i got the idea from a topic talking about a knex war. Then I thought "why dont we have one?????"so, i found out about how to get halo for free on the internet (from the microsoft website), and i have participated in a few multiplayer games. However, there can only be 8 participants max because that is the limit my internet will support (and it is very fast too.) So, i have set a password on the game, and you will be a participant on a first-come-first-serve basis. the first 8 to sign up will receive the password to the game, and will have the pleasure of getting killed by me.PARTICIPANTS1. DJ Radio2. Benfoxg3. Derinsleep4. 5. 6. nerfer 1927. Darth gecko man8.for the participants, here are the instructions:click here to download the trial version. when they ask for your age, click 18 on the drop-down box. Set it up, and name your profile your ibles username. you might want to sort your controls at this point too. To join the game, click on "multiplayer", click on "internet" then "get list". Click on "instructables", then enter the password.a few ground rules on the game-when you join, make sure your profile name is your ibles username. I do not want to think a hacker got into the game.-if someone says they are typing, if you spot them, do not shoot them, as it ruins the whole game experience. if they say they are typing, but you see them moving, you go ahead and shoot, they are lying-NO VERBAL FIGHTING-you can post comments mid-game, but no fighting people. If you shoot someone, its all right, but no "f you" or stuff like that.-FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE GAME BEING SHUT DOWNA word of warning to you guys:-make sure you have a fast processor (2 ghz at least), and at least 2 GB of ram. the game will run smoothly if you do-make sure you have a fast internet connection, as the game file is large in size. I need the fastest connection, as i am the game hostok here's the lineup for what we will do during the game.first, every person must stay at a base until i say ready. when i do, you may move out to try to look for a flamethrower hidden in the game arena. you may shoot whoever, but you only win if you find the flamethrower and shoot me. After, we will have a warthog race, the first thing we do is try to fight our way to the hog, and then drive to the starting line which is near the place where the flamethrower was found. then we do a 4 lap race along the perimeter of the arena, and the 4 who do not participate in the race get to shoot us down along the way. the next game will be a free-for-all slayer where the one with the highest score wins

(Gosh, it's been a while since I posted a forum!) So 22222222539 is leaving, and I don't want another contest to just die like the rest, so I contacted and got permission to continue the contest as the new host. here is the original forum topic: ROUND 2 A Knex ball Machine lift Duration This round will last from November 30th to December 8th Requirements Must be able to lift a standard knex ball or ball of similar size. Im rushing this to try to get the next round in during Christmas break so you have lots of time to work on your creation. Backup project: If for some reason you can't make a ball machine lift, you need to make something that will do a basic task, probably powered by a crank or rubberbands. Ideas: A hand powered by cranks to move it on a X, Y, Z axis A Rubberband powered can opener ect. Be creative with this Project. I want to see really amazing things. Please note you can only attempted the Backup project if you have a valid reason why you can't make a ball lift. Everyone who has the pieces to build a ball lift has to. if you have a valid reason, please post it as a comment to this before making your project so i know. When your done, post a like to the foruminstructable for me to put up here. Now get building!

Another new knex forum? I know we have KI but I really just need to be working on a forum right now. I'm not trying to like have revenge on KI (I don't even have a reason) but I just don't care for it. They're moving at a snails pace. Sure I won't be able to get a payed host (is it even worth it for knex?) but I don't really think a domain name maters all in all. What you'll have right away if I do start it is. -A front page with details like new posts, latest polls, and of course the Xat chat right there. -I'll probably find some sort of cool style instead of the default. You'll still have a choice in case you're one of those weird people who likes blue, white, and grey. -I'm hoping to have the karma mod installed right away which will basically be rep -I'll hopefully implement a ranking system using knex pieces as images. -I'll have a handful of bbcodes ready such as a spoiler code that you click on a button to unhide whatever you choose to put in it and a youtube code in which all you need is the video ID. There will be others. -I'll have more forums than just knex. I'll still keep the common theme but y'know I think everyone should be able to make a topic in a variety of categories other than "misc." -I don't know basically I'll be taking requests which I usually answer within the week they are posted. If it's a new forum topic that you want then I'll usually add it if it isn't a stupid idea. I'm hoping to add later on a cash and shop system although I'm not sure how soon that will be. Mods will be payed. I'll pick out a good few mods to work the forums for me. You won't need any real exp. all you need is to have good grammar (get firefox! it's a must!) and be active. So will anyone actually go to it if I make it? Please any loyal KIers don't find this as any more of aggression against you. Like I said I just really didn't like your forum and I want to make a forum so I figured I might as well make my own. Alright so if I get at least 5 approvals then I'll make it. It's a lot of work starting out so I might not do it if I end up not getting too far in a limited amount of time. Hopefully I'll have a friend helping me out but if not then it might be slow starting out. I really want to get us a good place to migrate to without being forced to KI. I know some people don't really care for it but I promise I'll try making this place better for those people. I'm not saying that this will be any better than KI but it is another option if people want me to do it. Once again KIers I don't want to start anything so don't think of this as a competition or anything I'm just giving everyone else the option.

Howdy. It's that guy who posts like once every 5 months and says he'll make something but never does. I try, I really do, but then I lose interest in whatever I'm working on, forget about it, and get back into class work. Just to reiterate, I'm on my last semester of college and I just had a job interview, so crossing my fingers that I'll get the job. It's for an associate software engineer position if anyone cares. Programming and crud. Woo. But it'll pay quite handsomely, enough so I may invest in more K'nex in the future. Anyway, once I finish college and get the job (I'm like 85% sure I have it already) I'll pretty much be free to my hobbies after work. I'll have moved out and be living with my friend's parents (awkward) until he moves out and gets a house, in which then I'll live with him until I'm ready to get my own. The point of mentioning this is that other than playing games with him, I won't really have much to do so I'll probably get back into K'nex and do a lot more than I have been since starting college. Hope the community hasn't died off yet. I'm working on a capstone project to graduate, a website that hosts an IRL game of sorts that I came up with. I don't want to link to it yet, but just be on the lookout for when I do. I plan on getting a demo of the game up within the next two weeks or so. So, here's the last thing I was working on before I went on another hiatus. I basically wanted to make a just for fun, but still decent gun that'd perform better than the UMP. I call it the Ninjato, going along with the SMRI theme. The ninjato is often portrayed in Hollywood as a small, katana-like sword wielded by ninjas. So I considered this gun in a similar relation to the SMRI, something based more on compactness and stealth rather than a signature weapon. The idea is that if it were a real firearm, it'd be a compact, internally silenced SMG. There are some obvious resemblances to the SMRI (I'm really liking the rail system and sights I developed) and the UMP. It was haphazardly thrown together in many ways, such as a really cruddy trigger guard I meant to be temporary and no trigger system yet. I was also meaning to get a stock on it and get it firing before I showed any pictures, but of course I never did and I've left it to sit unnoticed for too long. The magazine was meant to have an internal pusher and of course attach UMP style, though it had broken pieces so I was iffy on it. I thought about using it to make a horizontal-mag weapon, though. Overall, the gun looks weird I admit, especially without a stock, but I figured I'd show it anyway. I don't plan on finishing it. Anyway, my next project I'm thinking is to go even simpler than the Ninjato. I thought that I'd more easily complete a smaller weapon and apparently and SMG-esque weapon still wasn't small enough to keep my attention. Well, my natural calling is pistols so I figured with the revival of essentially the sidearm fad, I'll have a go at making a version 2 of my TDSS, again mostly just for fun. And also considering that Instructables somehow lost my old TDSS instructable, it seems fitting. I'm very busy, so I really hope I can dish this one out ASAP.

*=UpdatedAlright well here's an idea I had for awhile and I've posted it in a comment but I wanted to post a topic to see how others like it. Going a long with my style of naming things I'll just call it the TDWG. Please note you may change any number that you like in here. These are just my recommendations. Here's how it works. You'll have any number of teams that will each get a split amount of knex pieces. You'll be given an amount of time say a half hour or so to build up-1. Defenses2. Weapons3. Any other extra things such as traps or ammo holders stuff like that*You'll have to use an honor system (until someone come's up with "Splody Armor") Basically you can set up an amount of health like 10, 25, or whatever and then you assign each type of bullet a damage amount. For example you could say-Green Rod=1Dark Grey=1.5White/Dark Grey+Green Rod= 2Orange connector= 2.5Blue Rod= 3Orange Connector+White Rod (What was going to be the ammo for my repeating crossbow)/+Dark Grey= 3.5Yellow= 4/5Red= 5/7Grey= 6/10The last three rods may be changed depending on your starting health. I didn't want people just making simple guns that shot grey rods to get an instant kill with little effort but I also didn't want to discourage snipers from wasting the extra pieces just to do like 1-2 extra damage.*There are now two different types of ammo: Piercing and Blunt. Piercing are any rounds that have the tip of a rod (or any bow styled tip). They need to hit you with the tip or they only do half damage/ whatever less amount but they also OHK vital organs (Head and heart) and if we ever develop armor they would "pierce" the armor and only have the damage reduced by so much. Blunt rounds would be any connector made bullet. These are like dark greys and orange connectors. They do the same damage no matter how they hit you. They don't "pierce" through the body or armor though. Notice that connectors take up more space in a magazine (even if you add a rod for the tip to change the ammo type to piercing). Also they are pretty much the only ammo a rbg gun can fire which are all almost semi-autos with decent range. I figured this made the ammo types balanced out.~Extras~-The host can select the amount of knex that is used. You could give each team only small amounts so that they use them wisely or give everyone a lot to spam the parts as much as possible.-Fix Mode Basically if any piece is busted off from it's place you are not allowed to reconnect it and must take it out and add a new piece. This requires you to save pieces in case your gun breaks. *-/Medic Mode You can choose one team member to be a medic. They then have to stand by the person for 10 seconds for each health point and if you allow it 30 seconds to revive the person who has second chance perk (which would give them only 10-20% of their entire health so that someone doesn't purposely die to regain more health)-Originality rule. You make it so no one is allowed to use guns on the "banned" list so that we don't see a flood of killerk pistols. You could also make it where they have to build purely their own designs.-Perks (yes I play CoD Too much) Basically each player gets to select one special ability they get for the match. Stopping power would add 1 point of damage to the original damage for each bullet. Martyrdom would let you throw an explosive within meters of yourself when you die. Second Chance would let you lie on the ground shooting your side arm for 10 seconds or whatever your "bleed out" time is set at. In this time you may be revived by a medic. Juggernaut will give you an extra 20% health or so.~Strategies~Alright so here are some things to remember/ take into account/ try out/ blah blah blah/ I'll stop making things up now/ and minute now/ ok I'm done.-You must analyze how much knex the host has given you to make sure you don't accidentally run out half way through building.-Yes bigger ammo means more damage but maybe the bigger pieces are limited? They also take more pieces to make magazines for and need more power for distance.*-Take into account the different ammo types. Rods may be more accurate but you have to make sure they hit the person right to deliver the most damage. Blunt ammo takes up more room but they do the same damage no matter what and can be used in rbg to deliver heavy support fire.-Remember think assembly line. Would it be easier for everyone to make their own guns? It would probably be smarter to have like a couple people make the guns and then another part of the team build a wall or armor for defense.-What kinds of guns should you use? Small guns like pistols generally only use small ammo and thus less damage but you can build more in a small amount of time. Snipers with bigger ammo and longer distances would make awesome weapons when appropriate but take time and pieces. Making support weapons like rubber band powered semi autos offer great support power because they fire fast and have decent power. They take ages to reload and take up many rubber bands so they would be best used in bases with protection. Make sure you have a wide and smart spread of jobs for your teammates. -Setting up mines and making grenades could offer great defensive and offensive support. Throw grenades on charging enemies to make them retreat. The are usually easy to make although the best ones are also rubber band consuming and you'll have a limit to those.-If playing in large areas or better yet, dark areas, it might pay off to have silent weapons so that they don't hear you firing at them.-Set up an explosive environment with knex bombs such as IaC war bombs or DX8 (Compact version coming soon) Suplodies to shoot at to make burst of pieces fly everywhere. Set them up in the middle of the war zone or in areas with a lot of cover to make a no man's land where no one can hide.-Yes if the gun fires shot as in more than one piece of ammo at a time then each piece does the same amount of damage. So if a gun shoots 5 green rods then for each green rod that hits they receive the damage of a green rod. If all 5 hit then they receive 5 points of damage. With the spread of the shot you can dish out a lot of damage on a group of foes. They do usually have short ranges though like real shotguns.-Got any more ideas?Anyways I know there are other guides for things like this but I'll make this just for my game.~Classes~AssaultBasically the ones who get to charge the enemy. They'll fight using generally the "assault" rifles or true shotguns. MedicThe almighty healer of the team. You'll need to protect them. You have the option of giving them the ability to self heal although they cannot fight during this time. They will generally be equipped with light weapons to run around such as pistols and "sub-machine guns" Sometimes can be partnered together with the Support Class.SupportThey usually have the fast firing guns or repeaters with good distance to help suppress the enemies. They usually stay back at base or from a far distance. Sometimes they can be partnered with the Medic class.SniperThis is an obvious class... You hang back either at the base or another sniper point and snipe others. Obviously they are usually equipped with rifles with high power and large calibers. SmithKind of a lowly class. They're in charge of making more weapons and fixing them+your defenses after the building stage is over and the battle has begun. With them being the only ones who can build after the building stage they are more valuable than you think.*DemolitionShotguns and explosives! Basically a more destructive close up version of the support class. Being the pyro-masters they are they can build more explosives with spare parts like the Smith ClassI'll think up other classes later.Personally if I were to be in a battle like this I would probably pick the support class or medic. I'd probably arm myself with the Stg44 and then I'd use the TDS2 or a similar weapon just something small that I can use to defend myself while trying to reload the weapon. I'd probably make a few splody like weapons to lug out. What would you guys be and use? Also what would be your strategies? Most importantly how do you like the idea/would you ever play a game like this? I was just bored and wanted to post this.
