Phone apps are creeping more into the musical space. Famous musicians have been seen using cell phones with apps to play in their shows. Steffest has combined multiple phones into a guitar and can be seen here playing the results. Now I want to see him add an iPad for the guitar body and make the entire thing touchscreen. via Make

So, y'know how sometimes you might feel like sharing your music with friends, but you dont want to share you headphones? The solution would be to carry speakers, but usually they're sort of bulky and they wont fit in your pockets very well. So, what about cell phones? even some that are maybe a few years old are still smaller then some speakers. Everyone knows taht cell phones can be Really loud, so what if we somehow add a cable to attach to an audio device, and switch around some things inside, and use the dead phone as speakers?! I would try and do this, but i have no idea how, so this is just an idea for you peoples to think about.!

For some reason my home phone line is having trouble. When I am talking to someone on the phone there is very bad static which makes it hard to hear, and sometimes it will drop my call or even tap me into someones conversation. I though it might have been my phone, but even with the old phone unplugged there is the same problem. My phone company has sent people to fix the problem three times, and it might work for a day but will eventually have the same problem. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this?

Ok, so I have a portable phone and would like to create some sort of hands-free speaker/mic for it. I'm not sure how to go about doing it and I'm not very internal-electronic-savvy (i.e. chipsets, soldering etc). Ideally, I would assume it should be connectible via the 2.5mm headphone jack. I have an old 2.5mm headset. It's got an ear bud and flexible arm microphone and connects via 2.5mm jack. I should also have some old computer speakers lying around somewhere. I assume that's all I should need. I would like the microphone to be part of the device and be functional, but not sure if it will pick up my voice from a far distance. I'm not too concerned about looks/style, but would be a nice addition. Functionality is my first concern right now, although I do have a few old Fossil watch containers that I could put the speaker(s) in and some sort of dock or rest for the portable phone would be nice as well. If soldering is involved, I will need very detailed instructions. Thanks again! I hope someone can help me. If someone knows of a fairly inexpensive product, I would be willing to buy (since I'm not very soldering-savvy as I said above), but I think this would be an interesting project to build.

Hi Friends,Recently someone has been calling me on my cell phone about 3 times a day saying they are the secret service from a private Caller ID. It is someone from my high school. I think they are using a spoof card because the phone number is blocked or the white houses number. It is really starting to piss me off and I need some help. They have called about 7 or 8 times in the last 2 days. Its really annoying. I called sprint to see what they could do but all they said was that I would need to contact local law enforcement to put it to a stop. The worst part is they are not only wasting there own and my own time but they are also working away at my phone bill. So, I need your help. What do you think I should do, contact the local police and get the perpetrator(s) arrested for impersonating a government member or should I try something else such as taking the law into my own hands (phone trap/ back spoofing)Thanks for all your help.Joe Rowley

I'd like to remove some baseboard molding, but here's an old-school phone jack in the molding that has been painted over pretty good (though it still works with the converter). Any ideas how I might go about pulling out the molding without destroying the phone jack? I'm familiar with how to take down regular baseboard molding, but I can't seem to find anything online that might explain how to do it when an old outlet's in it. I'm not familiar with electric stuff, but am willing to learn, if need be. Thanks!

I've noticed you can create ring tones from your favorite songs in iTunes if they were bough through the iTunes store. I'm not great with computers, so please keep it simple. :) I want to know: 1.) Will it work on any computer? 2.) Cost? 3.) How do you transfer it to a phone? 4.) Can you put the same one on multiple phones for no extra cost? 5.) How's the quality? 6.) Is it only for the iphone? Or can I use it for my T-Mobile Gravity? Thanks for your input!

Question by curmudge-man
A project I've been trying to do for the longest time is to build a home made speaker phone for my car. There used to be a car phone in it from the pre-cell phone ages and its always sparked my imagination. Basically, from my cell phone's 2.5mm jack to a speaker and to a mic. Now, I have a CB Radio in my Cruiser and it has a built in PA. So what ever I say will come out a 3.5mm jack, very convient for the input for this project. However, I'm a dummy when it comes to speakers. I would have to build a small little loud speaker that would project the sound from my phone. I took apart a headset, so I have the plug for the headset. Now what I don't know is how the wires are arranged in the headset wire and what's the best way to built that speaker from a 2.5mm jack output. The input isn't much of a problem, just gotta figure out which wire in the headset wire is the input... probably red. I'm not much of a electrical guy and I don't currently own a soldering iron. I just have 180w welder.

Hi, I have a pair of Sony Erricson Inear Phone Headphones, I'm wanting to make it into a plain pair of headphones. To do this i have chopped off the phone adapter and stripped back the outer insulation. What i have now are 5 wires. One uninsulated copper one that i presume acts as earth and an aerial, one black, one white both with plastic insulation and one green/blue and red with some form of wire insulation. All cables bar the copper uninsulated have a kind of fibre in the middle, can anyone help me identify which are the audio channels?

Brain cells are impacted by cell phone radiation in accordance with a recent study. The study detected an increase in the metabolism of brain cells. Brain cells were affected in the part of the brain near the antenna of the mobile phone. Brain cells are definitely impacted by cell phone use, according to the research, however further research is needed to discover out if that's a bad thing. Source of article - Cell phone radiation increases brain cell activity in new study by MoneyBlogNewz. Cellular phone brain cell research first done The first research undertaken to examining how electromagnetic radiation from cell phones impacts brain cells was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on Tues. The research focused on how cellular phone use affects normal brain cell function, known as glucose metabolism. The rate of glucose metabolism in brain cells was increased more than researchers were hoping with cell phone exposure. When it comes to brain activity, the way it's done is with cells creating energy. This is done with glucose. The way brain cells work is that it is produced as necessary. The glucose is produce whenever it is needed by the brain. It's unknown if it's bad or not, however it was found in the study that glucose metabolism amounts are increased artificially with a mobile phone. Further research needs to be done though. How mobile phones affect the brain With all the phone calls going on, cell phone radiation has concerned medical experts. They have worried about what it's doing. The outcomes of previous tests have been inconclusive. A connection with brain cancer was found in famous cellular phone radiation studies. The proof that brain cancer was actually brought on by mobile phones in cell phone users was not there though. There are other things scientists have tried to ling cell phone radiation to. Such things as cancer or dementia due to brain cell mutation are examples. The effect of cell phones on children's brains has been a particular concern because children have thinner skulls, the radiation penetrates deeper and their brain cells metabolize glucose faster. Try to choose speakerphone In a statement responding to the cellular phone brain cell research, the Wireless Association said scientific evidence proves that cell phones, used within limits established by the Federal Communications Commission, don't pose a public health risk. The way cellular phone radiation affects the brain is nevertheless unknown really. Until more research is done, experts suggest Bluetooth earpieces and speakerphone should be used as often as possible. I have a couple of movies on itunes that I put on the card, but when I stuck it in my phone, and tried to play it, I said "Unsupported resoulution" and I don't know what to do to get it to play. I'm guessing that its too high resolution for it, but I don't know how to change that in itunes.

*UPDATE 2-15-11* If you are good with cell phone apps and website building and you would like to use my idea please message me. If you do make this all I ask for is a very small cut of the profit, but I really doubt anyone would want to make this anyway. Well, if you do just send me a private message and we can talk about it. Keep in mind you still may NOT TAKE MY IDEA UNLES I LET YOU! IT IS STILL COPYRIGHTED BY ME! Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my idea for a possible website I will be making in the future. I got the idea recently when my mom wanted to invite people over to the superbowl and sent out the emails that day. Many people didnt respont because, lets face it, many people dont check their email more than once a day. My idea would be a website based service that you could sign up for for free or become a member for a monthly fee. How it would work is you could type up your message and then send it to a pre-saved group of all the recipients phone numbers, and from there numbers could be added or removed. The site would then send a text to all of the recipients with instructions on how to respond. It would be something like "I'm having a b-day party at my house. 3:00-6:00 at 52 blah blah road. 'reply the number of people followed by y for yes, n for no, or m for maybe. ex. 3y 2n' " Then the results would be replied back to the website where it would compile a list of who and how many could and could not go to the event. Since sending the texts would cost some money it would have to be made up by advertising space as well as limiting the amount of invites allowed to be sent by the free users. Members benefits could include increased invites per month, more recipient groups allowed to be made, and a feature where you could text your website number from your cell phone and it would update you with how many people could and could not go. Since I'm only 16, I would not know how to create this site or be able to spread the word very well, so I would just like feedback on the idea for now. Please tell me what you think about the idea, and if you think its stupid be honest and tell me. Thanks :) And if you take my idea and start making money off of it, I will press charges. I emailed this to myself to sort of "copyright" it and this forum topic will not be edited ever so this will prove it's my idea as well. So please don't steal my idea.

How can I tell if my stereo speakers are bugged? How can I tell if there's a listening device anywhere in my home? Like in phone jacks, air registers, cell phone, or computer.
Help, I'm tired And Don't Want to Get Up. I like to read on my ihone and listen to music in bed before going to sleep. When sitting up, this is pretty easy to do, but not while reclining. So I was watching the tube and a GEICO ad comes on. You see the face of aniPhone wwhile they tell you about the GEICO apps for the phone and what they do, and then the announcer says the infamous line about so easy a caveman can do it, and it's a cave man of course and he walks out yelling. BUT the phone is in some kind of device that holds it. Seems like you can use it hands free and it's attached to some kind of base for stability. This would be great for me. When holding the phone while I lie down, every time I shift the position of my hand (as in turning a page, going to a song) I dop the phone
