Think students playing games on their laptops during class is bad? What about parliament members playing games during government policy sessions? The parliament of Bhutan, a small country in the Himalayas, has decided to ban laptops so that lawmakers will stop playing computer games while the Bhutanese parliament is in session. It is not however true that we were always playing games, said the MP, who is from the governing Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT). We need the laptops because that saves us the trouble of having to carry huge amounts of paper and documents. He makes a good point: playing game after game of tic-tac-toe does require a huge amount of paper. What games do you think they were playing?

So, I live in a dorm now with a few other students. We'd like to play a game together on our personal laptops, but we don't know which ones would be good to play. Requirements: 1. No internet access required. 2. 2-16 players or more. Multiplayer-only games are OK, but single player would be nice too. 3. Mainstream games are fine, but if you know of any indie games, that would be even better. 4. It doesn't have to be new. In fact, from 1990-2008 would be just fine. 5. Most of all, it has to be fun to play. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

So I recently took my 3 year old to the children's museum in Indianapolis, which was great, but what really stuck out for him was the water table/play area. I think he would have been happy chasing boats around that table all day. But it got me to thinking that i could build one of these in the backyard (scaled down, of course!). I've been looking for plans to accomplish this, but everything I find is basically an elevated tub or plastic tote. The project I'm envisioning would be on an incline so the boats could follow a set path. Initially, I was thinking it would be shaped like a ring, so he could climb under it to be in the middle, but I think a rectangle would be simpler (and walking around the table would be good exercise for him!) The path would (on a gentle incline) circle around the perimeter of the rectangle, so boats would eventually end up near the starting place. He could then pick up the boats and set them on another circuit. Probably would need a pump to pull water from the end back up to the starting point, which would provide a current to help the boats along. Any ideas or suggestions that could help this project along? Potential issues? One thing I'm not sure about is how to handle the water depth on the incline. I forsee the water rushing down the incline to quickly, leaving just a trickle to attempt to carry the boats along, leaving the boats "beached." Maybe there should be no incline at all and rely on the pump to provide the current? I'll attach some images of the super fancy versions we've encountered in museums, just as example of my inspiration.

I'm play the piano, and I want to improve my skills. I've mostly learned classical music, but I can play regular pop music too. I've taken piano lessons for 10 years so I know the technical stuff. But I'd really like to learn how to play jazz chords or at least learn some basics on how to play songs in a jazz style.

Hi! I'm about to build a pool table (billiard table) and I wonder what material I should use for the ''field'' where you play. I wondered about plywood or something similiar. On all quality tutorials they want some stone or something (I don't really know) So what's the best and cheapest solution?

If anyone plays the Great Highland Bagpipes, i was wondering if you could possibly measure your drone reeds and post the measurements, because I've been searching and searching and cannot figure out the lengths or diameters of the bass and tenor drone reeds. So, Bass Reed length Tenor Reed Length And the length of the tongues on each of those as well. If anybody could do that i would be really thankful! Thanks! Luc

I just came across a website called Spotify. It's a pretty simple idea - they have oodles of music (check the list of labels signed up!) that you can search and play in any order, for free. All you have to put up is a 30-second advert break every 20 minutes (instead of every 12-14 minutes on commercial radio). If you don't want to put up with the adverts, you can pay for an advert-free day (99p) or month (9.99).I've only been using it for a hour or so, but I'm having fun listening to a mixed bag of Duffy and Jehtro Tull tracks.

If you're a kid and you're pretty crafty, check out this Trash to Treasure contest that's being run by PBS' Design Squad show. Oddly enough, there's no definition of what a kid is and if that's physical age or mental, but I'm guessing it's under 18 or so. The goal of the contest is for kids to take discarded items and turn them into functional products. The grand prize winner gets the $10k prize and will work with pros to make a prototype of the winning design. This is very cool and will be running from April 1 to June 30.Some effusive comments from the organizer:"We are eager to see kids' ideas and everyday items transformed into innovative and intriguing inventions. What a great way to inspire a fresh approach to recycling, not to mention a new crop of engineers and designers!" said Brenda Musilli, Worldwide Director of Intel Education and President of the Intel Foundation. Does or has anyone here played sports? Which sport did you play? Were you pro? I'm currently trying out for my football team at school, so if I make it, my Instructables usage will decrease sharply. Thank goodness it ends in November. Well, now it's your turn.
