The Red Book of Westmarch Insider

Ever since I was a young lad (XD) I have wanted to learn whatever I could. How to clean a firearm, how to change the oil in a car, how to sight in a scope, how to string and fire a bow, the list goes on. An item included in that list is how to make a website. So, as many of you may know, I made a website (using Weebly), called The Red Book of Westmarch Insider. I decided to make this forum topic to let you guys know about some of the new stuff on the site. I have a couple of new polls, one Up to Date post, and a rather large Video Series page. I also have the ability to make a forums page, but I chose not to do that, as I was not sure as to: 1) how it would work, 2) whether or not you could post pictures, and 3) if anyone would be interested. I also made this forum topic so that I could let you guys know when I have something new on my site. You don't need to post any comments or anything, this forum topic is just to give you quick links to new posts and stuff on my site. -The Red Book of Westmarch

RSMG (Red's Sub-Machine Gun)

Well, I recently built this mag loaded SMG, but it is technically just a short version of Blue Mullet's RGMP. Tell me what you think... Pros: 40 ft. range Comfortable Cool looking Making an extended mag would be easy Fore-gripis included Is a fantastic gun for a push trigger (a gun where the FP pushes the bullet against the trigger) True trigger Cons: Handle is only comfortable when the mag is inserted Bullets only work well when a broken rod tip is inserted Could use a stock

Knexwise, do you prefer decent iron sights or a decent dot sight?

So which do you prefer... which do you think would be more popular... This should have really been a poll... but oh well. I meant in terms of looks... because knex guns are so inacurate that it barely makes a difference...

K'nex Gun Review - RBLTR V.1 (Red's Breach Loading Tactical Rifle)

Hello All This is a review on 'RBLTR V.1 (Red's Breach Loading Tactical Rifle)'. The RBLTR V.1 was published on the 1st of July 2013, and is considered by red himself to be his most powerful K'nex gun he has ever built. After building the gun and seeing the internals, it uses a pin pull mech and they look very similar to the G36C mech. There are many nice features to this gun that makes it original like the comfort bar and the sights. The gun shoots yellow rods to anyone wondering. STATS Range 10/10 - The range of the gun is rather high than an average gun. I managed to get 50ft accurately and around 80- 90 ft at an angle. It it described that the gun can reach ranges up to 70ft in the original description so I think 70ft is a fair judgement. As I managed to get 80ft plus,  I think the rating is 10/10. Appearance/ Looks 8/10 - The gun at first sight looks pretty hardcore although this does not really matter, I personally liked the comfort bar and the sights. The gun has a solid build so I think around a 8/10. Internals 8/10 - The internals within the gun are rather good, although I have had a few jams so I think 8/10. Broken Pieces 9/10 - The gun does not use any broken pieces however in some places the performance of the gun will exceed if broken pieces are used. That having been said I think a 9/10. Comfort 10/10 - I admire the gun mainly for its comfort of the handle. This helps to make the gun more accurate while aiming therefore a 10/10 without a doubt. Rate of Fire 6/10 - The ROF on this gun is quite good. When reloading this gun it did not take too long but their has been a lot more quicker and so I think a 6/10. Sturdiness/Durability 8/10 - The gun is put together well as I said earlier and I find it firm. When building this and adding the comfort bar is seemed that it was weak but as I added to it, it strengthened. Although the permanent fore-grip is rather weak in my opinion and could be stronger so I think a 8/10. Overall - 59/70 - This gun overall is awesome and I would recommend to build it! Also keep in mind that this is my ratings and opinions of the gun. Be sure to check out The Red Book of Westmarch's other guns. I hope you have enjoyed the review! Thank you! Hunter999

Can someone please diagnose this? It's driving me crazy!

A couple days ago I got a red bump on my foot. No biggie, thought it was an ant bite. Now I had bumps on most parts of my body, and they itch like hell. They range from small to somewhat large, and they are red. They itch so bad I can't even concentrate. There isn't a lot of them, but enough to be a PITA. Right now they are on my feet, arms, toes, wrist and jaw line. I checked WebMD and it gave so many things that were really, really bad, so that was kind of scary. I don't they are too bad, but I don't want to scratch them and make scars. I've been inside mostly for the last week or so, save two days working on my dad's truck (had bug spray on), and about two weeks ago I climbed a small hill through some thick thorns, vines, and other crap. Perhaps I had a tick on me? If anyone can help, I'd sure appreciate it!

Red dot scopes: I cant quite chose Answered

If possible, i would like to know if either of them need a riser mount to clear the m4 front sights

K'NEX Gun: RSEC (Red's Shell Ejecting Carbine)

Hey guys! Well, here is my most recent project, the RSEC (Shell Ejecting Carbine). The title really explains it all, it is a shell ejecting carbine... of sorts. Technically, the definition of a carbine is a gun that is in rifle form, but shoots pistol / SMG ammunition. This gun does not EXACTLY fit that definition, as it shoots blue rods, which is the K'NEX equivalent of a rifle round, but, all the same, I'm gonna call it a carbine. The thing that perplexed me about this gun is it's pin pull-back length. You see, the pin pull-back length on my K'NEX Gun: Reliable (R3) outdistanced the RSEC's pin-pull length, but I'd bet you that the RSEC would get better range, even without shells. I couldn't really tell you why that is, but, more likely than not, it is a result of the barrel. The R3 has a long barrel, which may mess with the rounds, but this, the RSEC, has no barrel (I.E. the rounds are shot right out of the magazine into the open air). Let that be a lesson to us all, K'NEX barrels are pretty much useless (which may be part of the reason why K'NEX bullpups are no good). Features: Great range: 50 - 70 ft. (even without the shells) Comfortable Everything in the gun is well situated (IMO) Nice 'n short, just like I wanted it Heavily modifiable True-trigger operated Good pull-back-length Hand guard Shoots shell ammunition OR non-shelled ammo -The Red Book of Westmarch

We have had our xbox 360 slim for a good few months now and within the last month or so, a red dot has been appearing on the power ring in place of the green power light after about 10 seconds of being powered up. The error code that is displayed is E82 and we have it connected through HDMI and when we did some research on the problem, it looks like it is a HDMI error and we have it feeding through a Onkyo amp. RMACR (Red's Mini Adaptive Combat Rifle) V.2

Apart from my Calico M-950 and my Magpul Masada ACR, the RMACR is my favorite build of all time. I sorta consider it my TR8 of magazine guns. As this is the case, I bring you the RMACR V.2. While it is not a huge change from the first version, it is still a great gun. Moreover, it may be generic to some people, but if a generic gun does its job, and does it well, what does it matter if it is generic. With ranges exceeding 50 ft., a 16 rd. magazine, a new (sturdy) stock, nice sights, this gun would excel in an indoor K'NEX war. Features: Looks great (IMO) Sturdy (except the pistol grip) New stock Really nice pin-pull-length 16 rd. magazine Relatively good rate-of-fire Really accurate Fun to shoot This gun can fire the ammo you see in pic #14 (which is THE best ammo, IMO), or it can fire white rods. It is very customizable, as you could change almost anything (except the mech) and it would still work great. Sadly, it does use broken pieces, and it's magazine is not "preloadable," but the gun is nice overall. I am posting this as a forum topic because I want to gauge interest in me posting a full set of instructions. -The Red Book of Westmarch

RTR

Hey guys, This is a transfer rifle that I made a few days back. It outwardly resembles the TR/NAR, but is totally different internally. It uses a true trigger mech that I invented, as well as a transfer mech that was also designed by me. It shot about 50 ft., but that was only with one or two old bands. It was really comfortable, and I would have liked to finish it, had I not taken it apart to build the NAR+TR8+ZKAR. Enjoy, and go ahead and ask questions if you have any. -The Red Book of Westmarch

Knex War?

Hey guys! Sharir1701 here and, as most of you guys that knew me back when I was still around probably know, I've lost most of my interest in Knex. I do, however still come on the site ever so often to browse, comment and so on. I've noticed during my past couple of visits that there seems to be a "war", so to speak, raging on between some members of the community, regarding the effect of bulldozing a gun with rubber bands, as well as "how good" is the NAR. In this forum I am assuming you all have basic knowledge in Knex gun technology, are familiar with the stated guns and have a little bit of background in mechanical engineering. Moving on. You might know my opinion about the subject already, but I would like to state it once more as well as explain it better, so perhaps some people that disagree with me could understand my point of view. BUT, before I do that, I can't help but feel guilty for tossing the long burning logs into a small fire. About a month or two ago, in one of my visits, I posted a comment on one of Red's topics (or 'ibles, strike me dead for my memory) about my quite specific opinion about each and every one of the three guns in question in the said topic, the ZKAR, the NAR and the TR8. I said a few things about rubber bands and brute force vs. complexion and efficiency, and I may have started something unintentionally. That argument has been around since, if I recall correctly, 2009, but it hasn't been brought up again in a while. I feel like I made that happen and then I enraged a few more people by saying that "efficiency and good design beats brute force any day" (or something like that...). I'm not taking credit for starting this thing again, but rather I'm apologizing for sparking up an old and possibly pointless argument. Nonetheless, I will now explain my opinion on the subject and hopefully nobody gets mad at me for doing so, but if you have a valid counter argument, please state it below in an understandable and polite way. Thank you. If so, then, what is this whole thing even about? The "KI Crew", as I like to call them, have been very proud of their NAR and TR-n series guns for a few years now. The TR series I'll admit is very good, but I don't accept the "add as many rubber bands as possible" argument. Now, the NAR, personally, I dislike the gun. I have had nothing but bad range tests with it in the 3 times throughout the past 4 years that I've built it, and I've heard similar results from several people and some close friends. I highly doubt I was doing something wrong all THREE times, so don't bother to bring that up, please. The NAR is a gun designed for nothing else but being capable of withstanding great amounts of force and shooting a single round "the strongest a pin gun can shoot". How? Very simple - make a massively dense and very shock-proof body and then just add as many rubber bands as you can before your hands start bleeding. Now, let me explain, I'm saying 2 points here. First, the NAR is nothing special, just a strong structure with a simple connector barrel and a reinforced pin. We've seen it before, people. The claim that it's a good gun simply because you can put on as many bands as you want, pretty much, is, in my eyes, invalid. So I can make a bomb and just put as much explosives on it as I can afford, surely it'll be better than an atomic bomb... WRONG. It won't. Theoretically, even if it makes a bigger bang, it takes so much effort and it is so non-elegant that it loses it's point within itself. (Do not take this metaphor out of hand! You know what I mean). Second, and more importantly, I'm claiming that even if my first claim is wrong, if you look at the technical side of things you'll see that the very premise that adding more and more rubber bands to a gun will make it much stronger, is wrong in it's origins. I'm sure we all know this, but let me remind us all the physics of how a basic pin gun works. When the potential energy stored in the strained rubber bands, and rested on the cocked pin, is released, it accelerates the pin. The pin then proceeds to gain speed and it reaches three main milestones:  The initial strike of the bullet (The pin is already accelerated and is just touching the bullet, but the bullet is still). The point of equality, as I've dubbed it before (Just a few tiny fractions of a second after the initial strike, at this point the pin is ever so slightly slower than it was in the initial strike, but the bullet is now travelling at an equal speed as the pin, with a tiny gap between the two, meaning they aren't actually touching at this point) And finally, "the crash" (the bullet has left the barrel, the pin is at it's highest speed and is the most energetic as it pointlessly crashes into the back of the barrel losing and wasting all of it's remaining energy). In a world where you could use 100% of the acceleration of the pin and transfer it all into the bullet, adding more bands would indeed make a much stronger gun. BUT, that is impossible, in fact, it's no where near that. To put it all into a short sentence, the bullet accelerates and fires with a fraction of the energy released during the shot and to a certain limit, it is almost exactly the same amount of energy after a certain point. So, let's talk Maths. There is a direct correlation between the number of rubber bands on a gun and the amount of acceleration (and force) in the pin when fired. The pin's acceleration as a function of the number of rubber bands on the gun is in the order of magnitude of y=x. That's true, and that is where the misguided claim in question comes from. However, if we take a look at the graph of a bullet's acceleration as a function of the number of rubber bands on the gun, we can conclude, according to the above explanation, that the function is in the order of magnitude of y=sqrt(x). That means that up to a certain pivot, which I claim is, on average, around the 2-3 rubber band mark, adding more rubber bands does in fact produce a drastically stronger shot, but past that point, adding more rubber bands adds more brute force, yes, but it makes the shot stronger only just slightly, and by an increasingly smaller amount the more bands you put on it. BUT, and this is the big BUUT, the graph of the force required to cock the gun as a function of the number of bands on the gun is, again, in an order of magnitude of y=x. In conclusion, up to a certain, quite low point, adding more rubber bands will give you a drastically stronger shot without stressing the gun too much and without making the pull incredibly hard. However, past that point, adding more rubber bands adds an insignificant amount of power to the gun while introducing a whole lot more difficulty in operating it, resulting in an overall, worse gun. That is why I claim that a gun built around the sole concept of being capable to handle a lot of rubber bands is a nice concept, but is much worse than a gun built around efficiency (meaning you try to invest as much of the potential energy of the pin into the bullet by making a more efficient layout and a smarter usage of the forces in play). If you got this far, thank you for reading my article, and I hope this will put an end to this silly argument, but knowing how people's feelings work and how male ego and testosterone works, I bet it's far from it. Happy Knexing everybody ;)

Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death - Fix Your Console Today and Enjoy Gaming Again Without Fear of Freezing

Since the Xbox 360's introduction in November, 2005, a significant quantity of Microsoft's game consoles have experienced a field malfunction that is indicated by three flashing red lights on the front of the console. It's The Xbox 360' Red Ring Of Death or E74 error. The "Red Ring of Death" is a very common problem. In July 2008, Microsoft admitted that over 800,000 people are dealing with it and 30% of all consoles sold are failing and the rest have a chance of failure. With an Xbox which suffer from the red ring of death, you will not be able to play games with peace of mind or any enjoyment and you can't use Xbox live membership without constantly dropping from online games, and losing level progress.Owning a broken $400 game system is annoying. If you don't fix the red ring of death, your system will only get worse with time, and your Xbox may stop working altogether (which will cost you in the hundreds of dollars to fix). The sooner you fix red ring of death the better, but first you should know what is wrong with your Xbox 360?The main cause of the 3 flashing red lights is overheating. In fact, it is an electrical connection failure between the CPU,GPU and the motherboard.due to an engineering flaw in the construction of the Xbox 360. When Microsoft designed it, they downsized the heat sinks ( which keep the system cool ) to accommodate the DVD drive, and they chose a slightly unusual way of mounting to link them to the processors. So when you play on your Xbox for too long, the temperature reaches beyond 120 degree, the motherboard heats up and begins to vibrate and flex against the X-Clamp plastic support . These vibrations loosen the soldering holding the graphics processing unit in place. This causes an electrical failure and the Xbox red ring of death error will happen.** How do we fix this ? **There is a myth going around that to fix the red ring of death errors by wrapping your Xbox 360 in a towel, turning it on for 20 minutes or so, and letting it overheat . BE CAREFUL !!! If you use this bogus repair method, you will risk turning a temporary problem into a permanent damage. This crazy method works for a few hours because when you wrap your console and turn it on, there is no ventilation for the heat to escape. It's like putting vegetable oil in your cars gas tank, sure it may run for a block but you have just ruined you car for a 2 minute trip! Your Xbox 360 is a piece of high tech equipment not a toaster, avoid completely the "towel fix" and any "fix" involving heat.** Is there a secure permanent fix for this ? **Of course, believe it or not fixing the Xbox red ring of death is not a difficult process and you don't need advanced technical skills or special tools to perform the "fix" yourself, I suggest you see a professional Xbox 360 repair guide with detailed clear video instuctions and pictures. My new semi-auto RBG

This is my new semi-automatic, true trigger RBG. Normally nothing new. But this one can take twice the amount of rubberbands. Thanks to some creative use of a red gear ( I'm aware I didn't use an actual red gear, that's because I didn't have any. So I sliced the pegs of a yellow gear ) This actually started as a mod for Dsman1's RBG, but it turned out to be something different. It still uses the system that is somewhat his, of a red gear turning a blue gear. It can take 15+ rubberbands without tearing itself apart ( Nearly does though ;). My record is about 18 or 19 rubberbands on it. The reliability isn't 100%, because there is an uneven amount of pits in a red gear (33), which are divided by 4 stages. So it's hard to get a good pattern for the rubber bands to shoot of. This basicly means that sometimes it either won't shoot, or it will shoot 2 rubberbands at once. I don't know if this is a problem with an actual red gear though, since my altered yellow is far from perfect. Do you want me to post it, or is there no demand for a new RBG?
