I am just wondering, what are the advantages of sear systems? nightfox only said that they have superior advantages to block triggers. So what are they? Pic is the M4 carbine made by nightfox

Skunk Rifle Published: https://www.instructables.com/id/KNEX-Skunk-Rifle/ This is what I am currently working on. The KAR-1 did not meet my expectations as a magazine will always cause some friction. I have revisited an older design with what I learned working on the KAR-1.

I want to use a ratchet system(like the one on the sipriani rifle) for a new idea that i thought of, but before i start i want to make sure I'm using a good ratchet system. I haven't looked at many ratchet systems so specific names of good ones (or ones that are generally accepted as good) would be helpful.

I wanted to make an knex Spas 12 since it's a really epic gun. I saw some and most of them didn't have a real pump action system. So I thought I could make one on my own. I spent 3 days working but I had trouble with the trigger and pump system. Some people said I had to use a sear trigger but I didn't understand. Help?!

I know there are some Dutch knexers here. Since Holland is quite small, maybe we can have a war or share ideas. If you are Dutch tell me and if you're interested in a war say it. Since this is ment for Dutch people i will now continue in Dutch. Use google translate if you want to know whats written in Dutch (it's just the age, experience and requirements) P.S. If you want to say something, post your comment in both Dutch and English if possible

I was going to post this in another forum but the pictures on the comments didn't work so here it is. it has a true trigger with a sear, there is a small rod to pull back the firing pin under the carrying handle, the sear automatically locks into place and the mag is not detachable because of the amount it wobbles.the trigger housing is a little messy and i feel the front isn't as good as it could be so i just want some feedback on what you guys think about it and how i could improve it.

Can anyone give me a tip on how to make triggers for k'nex gun, because I just made my file about a week ago,so can anyone help?
Question by Knave125 | last reply
What is wrong with the block trigger mechanism because I have yet to see a powerful gun without the mechanism. and the sear system has it's flaws. So what I think you hate is the mechanism and what do you think about the mechanism with the true trigger attached?

Before I can start to build the internals, I need to know what the people want. What kind of ammo? Who wants a sear, who prefers block? Who want a breach and bolt, who want a magazine, who wants a hopper? Mounted shotgun? Let me hear any other requests.

Ok, So I'm about to start building an L98A1. However, I don't think I should use the cocking handle assembly because K'nex is just too weak to hold up to it. My idea is to use a handle set-up like the SA80, ie. straight into the bolt. I would rather use the rail handle idea though, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. Oh, and some design features: Should have decent range Definitely a curved mag Accurate to about 20 feet Will use a fair few pieces Will have a realistic TMH set-up: ie. Sear behind the mag.

Hi! These are my guns that are coming out in September when i can get my camera sorted. I've actually finished the 1st one, the SS-90 and this can be found here: instructables.com/id/90_SS_Desechos_P_90. Now these will be the VQS range after the initials of the latin for 'swift and silent'; 'volitas quod silensis'. You know in car firms like Mercedes and Audi you have upgrade lines? AMG and the 'S' line respectively. Well , this is one for knex guns. So for example, the P-90 style gun will be the (VQ)90-SS . V, Q, 90 (as in P-90) ,S ,S(sears sytsem). They all have individual names as well. Here is the guns they are based on - 1. Will be the SS-LE/'Bastille'. This is an old MK. 2 Sten. It has a firing pin and a side loading mag, with a working silencer (hopefully). 2,3 and 4. This is finished ! The 90-SS/'Desechos' - Spanish for refusal. This next gun is a cross between these 2. It has a sears system and 6/10 round hopper - also TOTAL customisability. 5. Hopefully the next to be built. Will be the M-1G/'Adamantine'. An M1 Garand. 6+7. Will be the CD-94/'Flint'. A cross between these 2, although they are essentially the same. The first is a Mauser C96 'Broomhandle', the 2nd a DL44 blaster used by Hans Solo. 8+9. Will be the HM-5S/Cetaebro - Greek for dangerous shadow. These are the H&K MP5SD and the MP5 Navy repectively. Hopefully it will be a choice of 2 - real semi auto, or firing pin for proper power. A detachable silencer too. Note: 10. I could be trying to make a Henry Repeater Action .22 rifle too.

I got a new knex set today. I got the double-sawblade ride. Now I get a whole **** load of blue rods, yellow rods, gray rods, and especially red rods (I only had 6 red rods before I got this set.)And I get much more yellow, white, blue, green, and gray connectors too. I think I may be able to build the sear rifle I have been hyping up in the chatroom for some time now. but This isnt really an end to my part limitations. I did not get a whole lot of short green rods, and the connectors only took one bag. Now my 550 tub is overflowing with the knex parts I have.Double sawblade is a good part booster.

Jollex made a new free-flying slingshot, which was capable of shooting oodammo, and cannon ammo (yellow rod with a red con on the business end), and the trigger held the bullet, not the bands. I hadn't made many of them before so I decided to give it a 'shot'(:D). Body strenght:10/10, it has a very good crossing pattern through the whole body, that makes it extremely strong. comfort: 7/10, the stock could have been much better, although it doesn't take away from the overall comfort, it could have been a lot comfier. The handle gets 5 of those points though, because he did a good job going out of his way to make it even comfier. Trigger Locking mech strength: 10/10, could hold 15 64#s and then some, and you only need 3. Overall mech: 10/10, purely the fact that it was a sliding trigger could have got that, but, its a sear, and I don't really count sears as sliding triggers, but this goes even further and puts a semi ratchet at the back of the sear, which was bloody brilliant, so it deserves it. Power Bullet force:10/10, oodammo can punch through the cardboard like a blue rod punches through paper, and cannon ammo is even more powerful than oodammo. Range:12/10, well if 90 feet got 9/10, then you can see how powerful this is (slanted of course). Bow Strength: 9/10, it bends (using black rods) a bit with 3 #64s, but the way the bands are put on is really good, so you don't need to unhook anything, and there is not many places to get the bands tangled up in. Reloading ease: 10/10, its really easy to get the bands to cock back, and its not hard on your fingers at all. Tactics F4A attack: 1/5, running in with this singleshot is the worst thing you can do period. F4A defence: 3/5, you better have a good sidearm, because if you miss... and you need a good base aswell. Team attack: 3/5 as long as you have someone further up then you who you can support, but don't be the one to run in headfirst. Its silent aswell, and I know a lot of people like to think they are stealthy, but truth is most of you ain't. So you have to be good. Team defense: 5/5, finally the area it shines on. Huge range, silent, hole up in a tree somewhere with a few splodies, the Dash, and some cookies. Perfect for picking off enemy scouts and anyone who tries to get further. -------OVERALL: 90000000000/10000000000. Or, 9/10, or 9 tenths, or 4.5/5, or 90% positive. Instructable can be found here.

I have an idea for a knex video game. basically, you have several missions at various locations and they get progressively harder. ideas for missions (easiest to hardest) -instructables HQ -golden gate bridge (the areas where mechanics go) -Beijing, china -monte carlo casino -Empire State Building -Sears tower weapons -the Dunkis TDS (default weapon at the start of level)-10 shots -Dsman's sidearm-10 shots -I_am_canadian's heavy cannon (non-movable turret)-3 shots -my Longbow SR-L crossbow-5 shots -SR-v1-5 shots -DD-27-5 shots -oodalump's machine gun-25 shots -Storm 223-15 shots -a grenade of some sort enemies have 3 hit points each except for elite commandos, who have 10. the bosses have a health meter and a shield that must be defeated first

I have been hyping this gun up in the chatroom for a bit, so I got a pic today. This is A combo of my 2 best knex guns I ever built- The AR-4 Commando v2, and the Longbow v2. I made it mostly for the innovative ideas it brought, but i wanted to see if it was possible to combine the AR-4 v2 and Longbow v2.This gun uses an extremely reliable BRAND NEW sear system trigger which never misfires or jams, I thought of making a double-ratchet system and put it in a super modded Longbow handle. The stock Is an uber modded AR-4 commando stock. Same thing with the barrel. It is a single shot, but it can have a mag. Range is 40-50 feet (one rubbeband).the second pic is a close up of the mech. The only con I can think of atm is that this gun is sorta skeletony at the bottom. But its extremely sturdy neverthelessOk, I changed the name because I thought it would be less confusing and more appropriate.

(PS: This is me :-) )I might be older than dirt but those memories are the best part of my life.'Senility Prayer'...God grant me...The senility to forget the people I never liked; The good fortune to run into the ones that I do,And the eyesight to tell the difference.''Hey Dad,' one of my kids asked the other day, 'What was your favorite fast food when you were growing up ? ' 'We didn't have fast food when I was growing up,' I informed him. 'All the food was slow.''C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat ?''It was a place called 'at home, I explained. 'Grandma cooked every day and when Grandpa got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.'By this time, the kid was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table. But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I figured his system could have handled it:Some parents NEVER owned their own house (my Dad did, it cost him $14,000 for a 3 bedroom rancher), wore Levis , set foot on a golf course, traveled out of the country or had a credit card. In their later years they had something called a revolving charge card. The card was good only at Sears Roebuck. Or maybe it was Sears AND Roebuck. Either way, there is no Roebuck anymore. Maybe he died.My parents never drove me to soccer practice. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed, (slow). We didn't have a television in our house until I was 8. It was, of course, black and white, but they bought a piece of colored plastic to cover the screen. The top third was blue, like the sky, and the bottom third was green, like grass. The middle third was red. It was perfect for programs that had scenes of fire trucks riding across someone's lawn on a sunny day. Some people had a lens taped to the front of the TV to make the picture look larger. I was 14 before I tasted my first pizza, it was called 'pizza pie.' When I bit into it, I burned the roof of my mouth and the cheese slid off, swung down, plastered itself against my chin and burned that, too. It's still the best pizza I ever had.We didn't have a car until I was 9. Before that, the only car in our family was my grandfather's Ford. He called it a 'machine.' It started by pushing a button on the dashboard. I never had a telephone in my room. The only phone in the house was in the living room and it was on a party line. Before you could dial, you had to listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using the line.Pizzas were not delivered to our home. But milk was.All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers. I delivered a newspaper, six days a week. It cost 7 cents a paper, of which I got to keep 2 cents. I had to get up at 4 AM every morning.. On Saturday, I had to collect the 42 cents from my customers. My favorite customers were the ones who gave me 50 cents and told me to keep the change. My least favorite customers were the ones who seemed to never be home on collection day.Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies. Touching someone else's tongue with yours was called French kissing and they didn't do that in movies. I don't know what they did in French movies. French movies were dirty and we weren't allowed to see them.Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it ?MEMORIES from a friend:My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house (she died in December) and he brought me an old Royal Crown Cola bottle. In the bottle top was a stopper with a bunch of holes in it. I knew immediately what it was, but my daughter had no idea. She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something. I knew it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to 'sprinkle' clothes with because we didn't have steam irons. Man, I am old.

Hey guys! This is my long awaited first forum topic on my first 2 k'nex creations that I've been wanting to get a topic posted about them for quite a while, but never booked in any free time to get one posted. So today, I've had nothing to do,so I decided to go ahead and post a topic. The guns themselves are quite explanatory. One comes from a traditional firing pin system that's been on the site for ages now. The other gun is also a pin gun, but also has a slingshot mechanism integrated into it. Basically, it's a pin gun that has the ability to be given an unlimited amount of increased power as well as the ability to control pin friction. I give special thanks to Fred the penguin for the original idea. Go look it up if don't know what I'm talking about. That was one concept I used, the other one is really awesome and comes from the mighty 182515. Basically it allows a gun(whatever gun it may be) to be broken down into as many parts as possible, while also allowing a front portion of the barrel to be removable and interchangeable. Both of my guns have this concept. Anyway, enough chit-chat, onto pro's and con's for these weapons: assault rifle- Pro's: -very powerful, breaks oodammo from about 40 or 50 ft, puts holes in drywall, and leaves some very nasty dents in steel doors with certain front ends. -very high range. I can easily shoot a finned tan rod 275 ft. with 3 strong unused #64's and with the tr-18 mounted on it. -extremely versatile. can have multiple uses. - trigger requires no rubber bands and blocks the pins progress every time. -reliable -Doesn't use many pieces, but it uses enough though. Con's: - Gun may be a little hard to fire due to the trigger setup. -uses broken parts. logic bow- Pro's: -extremely powerful. I shot and killed a possum with it using sharpened fin ammo and 20#64's and actually puts holes in steel doors. 'nuff said. -extremely high range. Shoots a finned black rod up to 600 ft. with a tr. And goes up to about 700 with the nar.(Only w/ latex surgical tubing or elastic bungee cord) -extremely versatile. Does the same thing as the rifle. -no pin friction due to the ratchet holding all of the pins bands. -very reliable. -unlimited power. -Like the rifle, the trigger mechanism now operates on no rubber bands. -Trigger guard Con's: - Piece consuming - A little heavy, but nothing too serious. -uses broken parts. Well, that about wraps it up. THESE WILL BE POSTED. I'm just not sure when yet. Below are some pictures for you to drool at. **UPDATE**: I have changed these guns up some after this was published. The rifle pretty much stayed the same, I only did most of the major changes to the logic bow. It now features: A trigger that requires no rubber bands, better body design, bow limb reinforcements, handle moved up to the middle of gun, sear system type trigger or trigger that blocks behind the handle and moves only in one direction, and all the other bells and whistles. I also attached generic/basic stock butts to both guns(lol, that joke is getting old XD). I will upload the new pictures in a few days. Check for updates from me often by the way. I think we're done here. **UPDATE** 10/25/12- I have uploaded the new pictures. The last picture is of a recycled steel can getting pwned by the logic bow. Enjoy. :)
