Shops popular with British teens?

For reasons known only to myself, I need to know of some shops popular with British teens. What shops do you guys on that little island like to go to? I kinda need to know actual shop names, I can assume you shop for candy, clothes, gadgets, and whatnot like us on the other side of the pond. Your quiz crazy pal,RocketScientist2015

rolling work bench

Does anyone have any feedback on workbenches on wheels? I've got some old shop lockers from a school that got demolished and I'd like to put wheels and a top on and use as a moveable work area. I've got two locking casters and two free moving casters to put on the bottom, but am not sure about the steadiness of the work surface. Any thoughts or Ideas? I will be putting tools in the locker so that will weigh it down quite a bit. Foothill Frontier

Whats your Instructables work space?

About a year or so ago, when I started to get a little more serious about builing things as a hobby I took my wooden storage shed in my back yard and converted it to a workshop. I wired it up for power and light, I added some insulation and a small ceramic heater (I live right on lake erie, the winters are windy and cold) and a fan for the summer time. I'm always making improvements to my small but useful space when I'm inbetween projects. I was just posting to see what other people use as an instructables space. what kind of gear do you have in there? pictures are great too...... love to see what they look like. I'll post some of mine when I get home from work today.

Is your local shop ripping you-off?

I was vaguely interested in wholesale prices for shop products, and managed to find this price-list. The wholesale price is WSP, RSP I guess is the Recommended Sale Price (I think there must be tax in there somewhere), and whatever POV stands for would be the margin. If you think someone's expensive: either they've got an expensive supplier, or you don't know WSP, or they are making the most of you. (But remember, 8-'till-laters work hard to earn a living, they do need some margin) P & H price-list - as a major distributor these prices will be around the "good as one can get" mark. E.g. Haagen-Dazs 100ml £23.99 for 24x = £1 per tub        Hovis Soft 800g £1.14 ea        Cheesestrings Cheddar 21g £9.24 for 24 = £0.385 ea        "What not butter" 1Kg £18.14 for 12, £1.51 ea Or just marvel at what crap you can stock your shop with.... It's only a bit of searching, you could check your prices (different country) by searching specifically differently. (Look for who is delivering stuff) I do remember a local shop which was regarded as a rip-off to the extent some of my friends would steal stuff by way of compensation... not much though, Pot-Noodle here & there... Make SF Meeting

This past Sunday I went to the Make SF meeting graciously hosted by Tech Shop in Menlo Park. I unfortunately do not have names and/or links to work relevant to the presenters, but I will try to give an overview of what I saw as best I can.The first presenter showed a musical interface he made with a laser pointer and a photocell that altered a track of music to correspond with the disturbance of the surface of the water. He told of how he embedded many such bowls in a table and had the laser pointers shining straight down into them from the ceiling so that it seemed as though the water itself was changing the music. He used it a party the previous weekend (side note: I never get invited to parties nearly as cool).Followed him was a man that created a device to interface with a computer as a USB HID. In short, it pretended to be a keyboard, mouse or joystick and then you could send it commands from a micro controller. He had his device installed in a model plane and based on accelerometer readings used it to control a flight simulator. Next there was a man from Google who showed the low-cost Arduino based glowing orb that he was working on based on the Arduino Orb Build Warden. This was presented as one possible solution to have widespread visual indication for monitoring the status of their ongoing projects. Presenter #4 promised not to have anything quite as high tech and passed around a copper bracelet made using copper wiring and traditional cold forge methods. He then spent the rest of the time talking about how he welded the ends of the bracelet with a tig welder made from a microwave much like this one. And even though he promised not to have anything technical to show, he went into the finer points of building your own microwave welder in regards to transformer modification and the importance of finding a reliable metal foot pedal to control the weld. Lastly, someone came from Shape Lock and demonstrated his "Ultra-High Molecular Weight Low Temperature Thermoplastic." Or in other words, you stick it in a pot of water heated to 160 degrees for a few minutes, take it out and bend it into any shape you want, let it harden for a few more minutes and you're good to go. You can use it to quickly and easily make all kinds of high-strength custom shapes and fasteners. It is actually very cool. However, remember, don't stick it in your mouth (or anywhere else!) because albeit non-toxic it will lock your jaw shut and good luck getting that back to 160 degrees. Oh... I should also mention that the meeting was organized and hosted by the legendary Andrew Milmoe. And that summarizes what I saw and heard. The next meeting will most likely be the first Sunday in March and you can get more info on the official Make SF site. Also, there will be a Make SF social gathering next Thursday at Mars Bar in San Francisco (7th and Brannan). It starts around 7 PM and there is rumored to be a special robotic guest attending. (if anyone has more info on any of the presenters please let me know)

What shop would that be when I publish a forum topic? Answered

I just noticed something for the first time: Are you ready to publish? If you still need more time to complete your post, you can access it here when you return from the shop. Shows in the info box when you publish a new forum topic. Just wondering what shop that would be or if it is a bug, forgotten easter egg or something else. I know, I should just ignore it as ignorance can be a bliss, but now that I noticed it the shop is nagging me.... On a different topic: Also would be nice to have a category for site related things here. Sometimes it is just a question and not really worth posting it as a bug or feedback in the forum.

He has been denied twice, and now the Sr. Attorneys have taken on his case. It will be a few more months until his decision comes in. I would like to ask anyone who can help, to please hear my plea. If you, or anyone you can refer, to please help by way of shopping for gifts, Christmas, or any other occassion you may have in the near future, to please think of me and my family. Minecraft Server connection problem

Hello fellow minecrafters, I recently downloaded and ran a server.exe. That worked great. I then downloaded minecraft server.jar, and used a .bat file to run it. That worked just fine. After that I ran the server.jar, and used bukkit and added some plugins. It worked phenomenally.  Until I decided to install the physical shop plugin, (which allows users to use chests to make shops.)  I installed it and ran the server, then when I went to login to the server via minecraft. It got stuck on the login, and either it stopped working, or it would give me a screen similar to the failed to login: bad login screen. But it had a file directory for a random file, and some extra HTML code under it. I completely reinstalled minecraft, and even deleted the .minecraft folder. It also may help to know that I used the manual download for the 1.6 update which was provided in 1.5.2. But now I have no idea how to get to the real 1.6 launcher. So, if anyone has had this experience. Or they know of a solution, or can direct me to an article or someone that can. It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Constantly Evolving MMO Roleplay

So I came up with an idea for a pretty awesome MMO game.  Basically it's set in medieval times with swords and armor like your typical Elder Scrolls game.  You play as an adventurer building wealth getting a house ect. like a survival server in minecraft.  The only computer characters in the game are ones employed by a person to do work.  In a minecraft role-play server the downfall is nobody wants to sit around in a shop all day.  To solve this problem people employ workers in their shops.  The cool thing is people get a lot and can basically take to building anything they can afford.  The employed people come with various skills, wages, and levels.  The shop keeper can set up trade routes and gather supplies for his shop.  People who build better shops make more money by having better signs and better hospitality (more expensive to employ but happier customers).  You can build as many shops as you can afford and they can do anything.  To keep the virtual economy flowing people must eat food and consume a specified amount to be able to live.  So you must have so many grams of food each day which you can buy from shops, get from your farm ect. and then every week you must flow money out which can be in the form of repairs or sickness, or theft.  Now this all sounds pretty cool right, but wait for what comes next.  Lets review first though Join the game as adventurer Gain wealth Choose a career: shopkeeper / warrior / thief / assassin / ect.  If the thief of criminal is caught the fate is decided by the king. Gain power, prowice, friends Keep the economy flowing As I am typing this I realize the game would need to employ an economist to help prevent an in game depression or economic collapse. Now its time for some fun.  The game encourages the development of kingdoms.  By making friends and gaining in-game recognition someone can become king and gain ownership over a kingdom.  With enough wealth and land possession a king will be able to choose to build a kingdom.  These kingdoms are pre-set with boundaries and costs already incorporated.  As with all MMO games there are multiple worlds to log into and each one has multiple kingdoms within.  This allows for kings to go to war ect.  The whole game has very few limits on what can happen, however seeing as monopolies can ruin a game when someone becomes too powerful the game automatically sends bad things their way such as plague, fire, catastrophe ect.  Also to prevent one king from keeping power for the whole existence of this game every week things get a little harder for the king and his subjects are manipulated to go against him more and more until the kingdom finally collapses and starts anew.  This helps keep people hoping and wanting to try.  This is the basic idea of the game and I will now go into more detail on the interworking details.  Feel free to share your ideas to help with the development of this game. Details in a completely random unorganized order: King can collect taxes spend in various ways and do all that he can to maintain power.  He can employ and army and select various people to go underneath him such as dukes and lords.  The arm can be commanded by the king and at his expense be transported very quickly to a battlefield.  Generals command groups and keep track of all their men which helps the king prevent deserting soldiers.   The game's currency is dealt out to new players in various ways.  A quest may be formed, or a reward/bounty given to players so they can start making money.  The money payed to computer controlled employees goes out of the game and is carefully monitored to help keep the economy balanced. The total currency in the game can be increased or decreased in additional balancing attempts.  Thats what the full time economist is for. Resources are out there and just like with the currency, their appearance is carefully regulated.  Giant forests will exist making wood and endless resource, however from the start wood is fairly cheap.  Stone can be mined all over, however it is difficult to collect, shape and transport making more expensive.  Then there are gold diamonds iron ect. which are hard to find and appear in mines based on special algorithms.  The game will constantly be improved and will launch with hundreds to thousands of items which people can make and purchase.  Items can also be custom crafted either by the blacksmith or a painter which allows for unique items and helps create a competitive market.  There are in game "easter eggs" which can be found through experimentation so when a blacksmith gets it just right he can have super strong and lightweight armor, bound to his name which can create a buz about how special so and so's armor is.   Your help: How do we develop this, how do we get it out to the public, is it a good idea? What is wrong, what is right?  We were thinking kick-starter then employing a game development company.  How much does one need to develop a game like this?  Will it have public support?  How should you get the game.  Single purchase,  monthly subscription, in game purchases, purchase a character when character dies he is gone or some other ideas? Thanks
