Best of the Smallest

No I'm not talking about those annoying one shot noob guns. I'm talking about true trigger, multi-shot, pistols that are decent for their size. What are your best tiny guns? I want to see just how small a gun can get and still keep a good amount of features. Mine is based off of the TDS. It loads 5 dark greys, has a true trigger, and features a firing pin lock. Let's see if you can beat that! I'm JK I'm sure someone will. I made my gun only to be as small as posible so it shoots only like...2 yards/meters depending on the rubberbands. And if anyone hasn't then I also have a mini challenge. Let's see who can make the smallest slide action pistol with a magazine! Also for anyone wanting to build the Mini TDS visit https://www.instructables.com/id/the-dunkinis-mini-tds/Thanks knexsuperbulderfreak!

Smallest Truegger Gun

I made this just for lols. You could probably make this design even smaller or make another design that's smaller. I'd explain it to you but I'm sure you have the 8 pieces required to make this and the 10 seconds to put it together. Surprisingly it gets like a good two meters. Maybe a last move of desperation in battle? Say you're going to ally with someone and as you're about to shake ha--BAM! lolz lik omgz uber pwnge.

The smallest knex gun with a removabe clip

Alright, I was messing about with my knex, attempting to make a knex gun with a removable mgazine. I had made the clip and I then noticed my knex book-end that I made ages ago. I noticed that my knex gun clip would fit inside it, so with a little modding I think I have come up with the worlds smallest knex gun with a removable clip. It's roughly 12x8x3.5 with the clip in, and 12x6x3.5 without. Please post any atempts to beat this or correct me if I'm wrong becuase I have not researched this so it might not be the smallest. oodammo pistol competitions

So, you know how people are trying to make the most powerful gun? The smallest gun? When we knexers get more into oddammo, such as rifles and mgs and turrets, we should do the same thing. Please comment and tell me what you think.

Guitar String as Record Stylus? Answered

I'm wondering if you can use the high e (smallest one) guitar string as a record stylus, because I lost the stylus I have. I cant find one anywhere and they're too expensive online. I've tried it on an old record, but the sound is kind of distorted (the pitch keeps fluctuating). Will it harm any records?

user-hosted knex instructable contest!!!! [Typos fixed!]

Hi everyone, I am a long-time knex gun user and Instructable maker, you probably don't remember me because I am using this new account and my old one has been inactive for years. More to the point, i am going to hold a knex gun instructable contest not run by the site administrators. Because of this, the only reward is fame and glory among the knexers' What you need to do to be in this contest is make an instructable of a knex gun and give the link to it on this forum. You will have to design a gun that you do not cock, has no block trigger, and has a very easy instructable. A few suggestions for this design are listed below. Technical requirements: ~ The gun must have no block trigger ~ The gun must shoot any rod ranging from the smallest size to the second largest [green - red] suggestions for making a far better gun than anyone else: ~ make as many extra / removable components as possible ~ make a hopper or way to have multiple shots at one time in the gun ~ use as few and as simple foreign objects as you can get your hands on ~ Make the gun with less than 250 pieces ~ Make the instructable as good as you can, after all, even if you get the gun, you have to show it here!

Best Government

I have always thought that a localist, complete democracy with communist economic system was superior.  The countries' sizes would be similar to counties in the USA (30-40 miles across), because every area is different and requires different laws.  Every human of age would have one vote in all matters.  A number of people would be hired, like congressmen, to vote on trivial things that the rest of the population doesn't care to vote on, but members of that group would have no more say-so than anyone else.  Laws would be written up by lawyers commissioned by citizens, and would be added to the next ballot if a predetermined number of signatures was obtained petitioning for it. Instead of buying things with money and being paid for work, workers would be given cards (like Drivers' Licenses) that allow them an amount of food and luxuries. In order to ensure that people do all the jobs that need to be done, a sliding pay scale would exist.  Job categories would be ranked in importance by periodic votes, and ranked in terms of positions filled by computer (if there are not enough farmers practicing, the ranking for farmers would go up).  Votes to determine importance of jobs would be done by occupations as wholes (farming would get one vote, clerks would get on vote, etc. in order to prevent jobs with the most people from voting themselves most important)  In this system, the most important jobs that have the lowest worker-to-necessary-worker ratio would get 50% more luxury entitlements than people with the least-important, most-practiced jobs.  Every worker would get the same amount of food, based on number of dependents.  People who could not work due to temporary or permanent disability would be given a special card that allows food, and fewer luxuries than full-time workers, and would need to be renewed periodically, to be sure that holders actually cannot work.  People who have lost their jobs would be issued a temporary unemployment card that allows them food and few luxuries while they look for a job.  They must demonstrate that they have been looking for a job to the best of their ability to keep their card.  Students would be allowed food and the smallest amount of luxuries, and their education would be free.  Standards for workers would be determined by popular vote. While each country would only be county-sized so that it can do what is best for itself, all the countries would be part of a United Nations style meeting that mediates to prevent war and puts regulations across all the countries. So, what do y'all think the best way is?  Please be wordy.

Knex Wars Video Game - Now Doom PC (classic) engine for online abilitys

Yet again... the game engine is changing! (sorry)After a million polygon 3D errors (due to the nature and looks of knex guns) the games engine will be changed once again...Not all hope is lost though! anyone remeber the classic PC, game DOOM!!! thats right so far I've been able to use my old Wolf3D sprites I made, AND! IT WORKS!!! graphic are now being updated to make the higher resolution (wolf3D had 64x64 Doom has 128x128, or if you download an expantion that like requires 150kb (big way back when it came out) a resolution of 256x256 (my fav and lucky number) with now 16 bit color and no longer 8 bit 256 colors!Oh did I forget to mention ONLINE PLAY!? - Doom pc had online and people could play on custom maps (that colombine shooting kid made maps and graphics and yes I've played them all and they are fun!) -note none are based on the schoolIf you realy know nothing then let me explain 1) Online play = Fun2) 256x256 resolution = 4x the ammount of detail as Wolfenstein (go on MS paint and set the size to 64x64 and draw the smallest dot, then set it to 256x256 and you will see a big difrence)3) polygon 3D = 3D objects made of polygons and other kinds of shapes (think of the early 32 bit and N64 graphics)4) 8/16 bit color = ammount of colors can be in the game. 8 bit = 256 colors (everything in computers adds up to 256...) 16 bit color is Neer true color (32 bit is considered "true color" and has every color.Once again sorry for the change (again) but N64 games are not the easiest thing to program when an engine was not meant to be modded (or have weapons so colorful and having so many colors in one part like a real knex gun) And I know just about everyone has a computer that is older then windows 95 (with me with windows 95 cause i cant put floppys in a laptop) so running the game should be no problem (yet running an n64 game with other programs like virus scanner, or being online makes it 4x slower)OH ONE SMALL REQUEST!to help the looks of the guns (and reduce time from building them just to see how the would look) could someone make side (like halo) and frontal (not iron sights) pictures of these guns? - do with your own gun if you want, just make sure the pictures not to blurry

Rebuilding NordicTrack ski machine drive rollers

Many people still buy and use a NordicTrack Ski Machine, although these machines are not as popular as they once were. I have talked to people who say they just plain wore out a ski machine. The part that wears is the one-way clutch inside the drive rollers. NordicTrack makes the one-way clutch sound very mysterious. In reality it is a one-way needle bearing and is available from Amazon or locally from a good bearing shop. The internal diameter of the one-way needle bearing used in my machine (Challenger, similar to a 303) is 5/8 inch. The outer diameter is 7/8 inch. The width of the one-way needle bearing from end to end is 5/8 inch. I originally had hopes of being able to install new one-way needle bearings, myself; but, they together with the bronze sleeve bearings on either side of the one-way needle bearing inside each drive roller are pressed into place. Pressing bearings is not a job for the average home tinkerer but requires a bearing press capable of exerting tons of pressure in a very precise manner. You can often have a local machine shop press the bearings in your machine's drive rollers. Or, you can send them away to Nordic Track Guy and have them rebuilt for about $33 with a one week turnaround. The core of the rollers really does not wear out, but new rollers are available on the Internet from $65 to $95, depending on the vendor. From what I can find, some models used an alternate size. Check to be certain you order the correct rollers, if you choose to replace. One of my drive rollers suddenly began to hiccup. It seemed that the clutch did not always release immediately when I pulled my foot forward. Then I noticed a little mush in the response when I began to bring my foot back on the push stroke. Before you rebuild or replace your rollers, try this: Remove one side of your Ski Machine. See the second photo and check the exploded diagram in your manual. Four nuts and two screws, all plainly visible, need to be removed. Slide the washers and the roller off of the top side. The shaft and flywheel can be wiggled out of the other side without removing anything from that side. Remove the washers and the roller from that side, too. Flush the one-way needle bearing by squirting some penetrating oil, like Liquid Wrench, into the bearing. Work it both ways with your smallest finger. Push a facial tissue into the shaft hole in the roller and sop away the penetrating oil and any metallic dust it lifts. Do this several times. Let the rollers air dry. A little lubrication is good. People who comment on lubrication for one-way needle bearings use Tri-Flo (I am not familiar with it.) or they use a little ATF transmission fluid. You want enough to lubricate, but not so much that the bearings slip. (But, see the comments below where the oil impregnated bronze sleeve bearings are supposed to supply enough lubrication for the needle bearings.) Put the rollers back in place on the shaft. Check to be certain they grab on the rearward stroke and release on the forward stroke. Reassemble the machine. Do not forget the washers between the roller and the side board. My machine works again as it should. The day will likely come when this simple fix does not help, and I will need to rebuild or replace the rollers then. But, for now, my rollers have a new lease on life. What follows is for your information. The first photo is of a portion of the back cover of the manual that came with my machine. It shows a cutaway image of the drive roller. The black printing is mine. Notice the three cylinders inside the drive roller. The outer two are bronze sleeve bearings. The center one looks like a roller bearing, but is a one-way needle bearing. A one-way needle bearing is essentially a roller bearing, but the rollers are able to move forward and backward a little in their cage. There is a wedge shape for the axle of each roller that causes the rollers to bind between the bearing cage and the shaft when the rotation is in one direction, but they are free in the other direction. Here is a description of how they work with graphics. This link is for an Instructable about a number of modifications I made to our NordicTrack ski machine, including how it can be stored vertically in a closet. If you do not have a digital monitor for your skier, or need to replace one, here is an Instructable on how to make your own from a digital bicycle speedometer.  Check NordicParts for any parts you need, also Nordic Fitness Ski Machines. Danny at Nordic Fitness Ski Machines has some very nice new rollers for sale.
