How do I make a turret winder? Answered

I saw the video of The Foofinator's handle pump TR-8, and I noticed that he wound up the turret with a wheel on the end of the turret. When he turned the wheel to wind the turret, the turret didn't move. How does it work, and are there instructions for the turret winder?

Failed KNEX turret pistol

Hello everybody I have not posted a KNEX gun for a while and have not made anything that worked that good but this is something I made a month ago that failed but I kind of liked how it looked and some other aspects of it.  I know this isn't innovative or anything but it looked kind of cool and I have not seen something just like this before. Now what made this a failure was first the turret was held on by a rubber band.  This could have been fixed if I just put a longer rod in but then that would look weird. Also this has a slide trigger that I came up with but I did not take the time to fix it so that it worked right and it was mounted wrong so it rubbed on my hand when I held the gun.

Quick question about turrets

I planning on maybe building a turret gun and I was just wondering if the White rod mini pins on the tr-8 are essential for good ranges from a turret, as, if it is viable, I would quite like to build a turret without the mini pins. thanks, I.E.

why are turret guns more powerful than regular pin guns?

Surely there is more friction in the barrel and turret of a turret gun, like the tr18 or knexsayer?

A Knex hammer action turret rifle. The gun shoots inconsistently, anywhere from one foot to 18 feet. Sometimes the bullet wont even come out of the barrel. It was made purely for looks over mechanism, but it still functions.

TR8

Still using the same old TR8 turret? Tired of tearing apart your hands trying to replace a broken mini pin? this turret is both sturdy and easy to access the pins for easier than ever replacement the last thing you need during a war is to spend time repairing your gun with this mod not only is your turret as solid as it can be but it is also as easy to access and replace parts as necessary! i understand it uses a lot of blue clip connectors so this mod may not be for everyone but i would highly recommend this turret and use it as my standard TR8 turret

Perfect War Gun

Well, The Dunkis asked for a perfect war gun, so i made one. This thing is packed with innovation (not really), it's got a new way to hold shells, a different way to put a turret,  and a thingy for the ratchet that i put on my ASCB. It is complete with: A slingshot a turret  a pump action gun A trigger that activates the slingshot and the turret a separate trigger for the bottom A turret that doesn't use the tube sort of whatever The only feature this doesn't have is a mag for the pump action part Yes, the on the last picture you can actually see the face that has brought the world happiness :)

TR-8 Aftermarket kit, TR-36 "Overkill"

I know this works for cars, so I decided to put an extreme spin on KILLERK recent TR-8. The majority of the body is based of the TR-8, but as you can see I added a little different styling to the handle which is also used to support the heavy turret. I added a bit more of a stock to the original but kept the mechanics the way they were. (can't mess with perfection) The turret itself has a ratchet, similar to the TR-8 which allows the turret to only "wind up" in the correct direction. The turret is also attached the same way as the TR-8 with a socket joint in the grip of the gun. I threw some tactical rails on the sides of the gun to try to hint at capability with attachment but the turret is kind of blocking any attachment you would put there. Overall the TR-36 Overkill feel awesome (heavy) and with that phenomenal power and range you would expect from any turret gun. Tell me if you're interested in an ible' and I'll start working on making one.  Thanks for looking! JonnyBGood

Old hobbies die hard... some TRs

I had a lot of old pics to work off of so the building experience was a lot like what I remember loving about knex, without the frustration. This blaster (:>) has a pretty solid mech. The slide, anchored by the gray connectors on the naked black rods (hehe), requires the full motion to prime, resulting in the longest pin draw possible using this draw/anchor method. The pin I have on this has a rubber washer of sorts that I had laying around, so far working wonders. No broken pieces were required, though I slid a broken black rod that was conveniently the perfect length into the barrel construction. As I mentioned in the title, I built this just yesterday and I expect that it'll be further modified -- the grip was something I had lying around and could essentially just throw on, the stock was rushed. I was planning on building another and I'd be happy to make instructions if there's any demand, though these pics alone may be enough for the few of you. (8/24/15) Link to better quality pictures, really unimpressed by what got uploaded here... https://imgur.com/a/4y1Se Credit to KILLERK for the TR of course. I just gave it a new body. Update 8/25/15: 3D printed a piece for the front of the barrel. Update 8/27/15: Small changes all over. I'm okay with the front grip. There's some mole skin on the handle. Changed the below pictures to reflect what I currently have, clearer pics in the imgur album. Update 8/31/15 Finally got around to classing up the stock, quite happy with how it turned out. A few other changes as well, updated the pictures once more. Should be able to build from these pics!

Merry Knexmas!

Merry Knexmas! From Hiyadudez! It's almost here, Christmas, one of the happiest times of the year. Lets start of by singing a song, made by Logic boy :-) Rudolph, the red-turreted knexsayer had a very shiny turret.  And if you ever saw it,  you would even say it was awsome.  All of the other knex guns  used to laugh and call it names.  They never let poor Rudolph  join in any knex wars.  Then one foggy Christmas Eve  Mepain came to say:  "Rudolph with your Turret so bright,  won't you be my primary tonight?"  Then all the knex guns loved him  as they shot out with glee,  Rudolph the red-turreted knexsayer,  you'll go down in history!     Well, that was completely random... but I bet you are singing it in your head right at this very moment though! Hehe :-) Anyway, I only made this because I was bored, cya!

The Kinetic Warbow (in progress)

So I got a lot of responses and It seemed to me that the TR would be the best choice for a gun to integrate with my semi auto.  However I would have to do this in a way that did not obstruct the firing process of the semi auto, and therefore I had to put the turret off to the side.  Using techniques from the D-TAB, I was able to integrate the same bow and, with a turret on each side.  These turrets do not sag like in the original D-TAB, and they can be wound in the same way that KILLERK's most recent TR is wound.  If I can, I will use a Swagboss-like trigger in order to isolate each shot, though only one pin will be pulled back.  Let me know what you think!

"Shanti" bow

My newest project, the "Shanti" bow, or the D-TAB v1 (dual-turret assault bow)  Brings out a whole new era of shotbows.  The D-TAB v1 uses a turret for optimum performance.  What is unique about this bow, however, is that it uses two turrets, firing them simultaneously.  It also uses the very first compound bow system that I have seen in knex.  This gives it an extra thrust of power while the firing pin is accelerating to the turrets.  This is truly my greatest creation yet (but I had to take apart my prized hell slayer :( p.s. build that gun!), and will continue to get better.  Unlike zak and his "sexbow", I will be posting this.  Here are a few pics and a video should be up shortly.  Let me know what ya think. Video: www.youtube.com/watch Pros. -Turrets for performance and quick reload -Great range (havent measured yet but I'm guessing around 50ft with the bands used-you can add much more) -Compound bow system -Textured foregrip -Perfect war gun -SK's easy to use ram and guide Cons. -Inaccurate at range Credit:   Credit goes to s0lekill3r for ram, ram guide and frame Credit also goes to knexfreek for the trigger (though I probably be using a different one because I can't find a way to put a safety on his)

Perfect war gun V2

Hey! i'm back with the V2! Okay, this gun fixes all the problems of V1 like: It know has a mag for the pump action part (that shoots 2 blue rods at a time!) the turret doesn't fall off any more looks cleaner it's got a scope and better sights uses quite a few less pieces (not that different more comfy trigger for all three guns are a lot more reliable So, i might be posting, depending on what you guys think, and i need a name for it! What knex gun should I build next?

I am trying to figure out which gun I want to build next. I have thought of 4 knex guns that have very promising designs in my opinion but don't have the time or parts to build all at once. Here is what I am wanting to build.  A Trench gun. Shell ejection, pump action and all. A f2000. Fully automatic, large mag with red dot sight. A hand held gatling with high bullet capitivity. ( Not a hand held gatling with a rod and a rubber band on each bullet holder thing like a bunch of tiny guns.) A folding mounted turret with VERY high bullet capitivity. None of these guns will need modified pieces that I can tell from my on paper plans. I would just like to see which of these everyone would be most excited to see. Don't be shy. Let me know what you think. Pics are in order of what I said them in.

Updated Revolver

Updated pictures. I tried an 8 turret afterwards and it was too heavy and big, so I stuck with a 4 turret, which keeps it light. My picture quality is crap, I hope to get my hands on a camera that actually works soon, but here it is. 1. A picture of the whole thing. Things that have changed: - 4 Turret has been added. - Iron sights have been added. - Charging handle has been added. - Handle has been improved. - Fore-handle has been replaced with a grip. 2. A picture without the stock. 3. Looking down my original (and very effective) sights. 4. The gun at an angle. Notice the charging handle sticking out and the size of the grip. 5. FPS shot. Not much to say here. This is ighly improved, I hope to be able to make detachable clips soon.

Turret-Fed Shotgun: A 3 barreled shotgun, each barrel capable of 50 feet of range, that strikes 3 rounds out of a TR-18 turret simultaneously. One trigger pulls all the blocks at the same time during firing. One master pin pulls back the 3 firing pins. It is also important to note that the blocks should just barely touch the firing pins because there will be 3 times as much pressure for the trigger to overcome as a typical gun because there are 3 blocks. -by Oblivitus This concept has also been posted to: https://www.instructables.com/id/Knex-Concepts/

Knex War?

Hey guys! Sharir1701 here and, as most of you guys that knew me back when I was still around probably know, I've lost most of my interest in Knex. I do, however still come on the site ever so often to browse, comment and so on. I've noticed during my past couple of visits that there seems to be a "war", so to speak, raging on between some members of the community, regarding the effect of bulldozing a gun with rubber bands, as well as "how good" is the NAR. In this forum I am assuming you all have basic knowledge in Knex gun technology, are familiar with the stated guns and have a little bit of background in mechanical engineering. Moving on. You might know my opinion about the subject already, but I would like to state it once more as well as explain it better, so perhaps some people that disagree with me could understand my point of view. BUT, before I do that, I can't help but feel guilty for tossing the long burning logs into a small fire. About a month or two ago, in one of my visits, I posted a comment on one of Red's topics (or 'ibles, strike me dead for my memory) about my quite specific opinion about each and every one of the three guns in question in the said topic, the ZKAR, the NAR and the TR8. I said a few things about rubber bands and brute force vs. complexion and efficiency, and I may have started something unintentionally. That argument has been around since, if I recall correctly, 2009, but it hasn't been brought up again in a while. I feel like I made that happen and then I enraged a few more people by saying that "efficiency and good design beats brute force any day" (or something like that...). I'm not taking credit for starting this thing again, but rather I'm apologizing for sparking up an old and possibly pointless argument. Nonetheless, I will now explain my opinion on the subject and hopefully nobody gets mad at me for doing so, but if you have a valid counter argument, please state it below in an understandable and polite way. Thank you. If so, then, what is this whole thing even about? The "KI Crew", as I like to call them, have been very proud of their NAR and TR-n series guns for a few years now. The TR series I'll admit is very good, but I don't accept the "add as many rubber bands as possible" argument. Now, the NAR, personally, I dislike the gun. I have had nothing but bad range tests with it in the 3 times throughout the past 4 years that I've built it, and I've heard similar results from several people and some close friends. I highly doubt I was doing something wrong all THREE times, so don't bother to bring that up, please. The NAR is a gun designed for nothing else but being capable of withstanding great amounts of force and shooting a single round "the strongest a pin gun can shoot". How? Very simple - make a massively dense and very shock-proof body and then just add as many rubber bands as you can before your hands start bleeding. Now, let me explain, I'm saying 2 points here. First, the NAR is nothing special, just a strong structure with a simple connector barrel and a reinforced pin. We've seen it before, people. The claim that it's a good gun simply because you can put on as many bands as you want, pretty much, is, in my eyes, invalid. So I can make a bomb and just put as much explosives on it as I can afford, surely it'll be better than an atomic bomb... WRONG. It won't. Theoretically, even if it makes a bigger bang, it takes so much effort and it is so non-elegant that it loses it's point within itself. (Do not take this metaphor out of hand! You know what I mean). Second, and more importantly, I'm claiming that even if my first claim is wrong, if you look at the technical side of things you'll see that the very premise that adding more and more rubber bands to a gun will make it much stronger, is wrong in it's origins. I'm sure we all know this, but let me remind us all the physics of how a basic pin gun works. When the potential energy stored in the strained rubber bands, and rested on the cocked pin, is released, it accelerates the pin. The pin then proceeds to gain speed and it reaches three main milestones:  The initial strike of the bullet (The pin is already accelerated and is just touching the bullet, but the bullet is still). The point of equality, as I've dubbed it before (Just a few tiny fractions of a second after the initial strike, at this point the pin is ever so slightly slower than it was in the initial strike, but the bullet is now travelling at an equal speed as the pin, with a tiny gap between the two, meaning they aren't actually touching at this point) And finally, "the crash" (the bullet has left the barrel, the pin is at it's highest speed and is the most energetic as it pointlessly crashes into the back of the barrel losing and wasting all of it's remaining energy). In a world where you could use 100% of the acceleration of the pin and transfer it all into the bullet, adding more bands would indeed make a much stronger gun. BUT, that is impossible, in fact, it's no where near that. To put it all into a short sentence, the bullet accelerates and fires with a fraction of the energy released during the shot and to a certain limit, it is almost exactly the same amount of energy after a certain point. So, let's talk Maths. There is a direct correlation between the number of rubber bands on a gun and the amount of acceleration (and force) in the pin when fired. The pin's acceleration as a function of the number of rubber bands on the gun is in the order of magnitude of y=x. That's true, and that is where the misguided claim in question comes from. However, if we take a look at the graph of a bullet's acceleration as a function of the number of rubber bands on the gun, we can conclude, according to the above explanation, that the function is in the order of magnitude of y=sqrt(x). That means that up to a certain pivot, which I claim is, on average, around the 2-3 rubber band mark, adding more rubber bands does in fact produce a drastically stronger shot, but past that point, adding more rubber bands adds more brute force, yes, but it makes the shot stronger only just slightly, and by an increasingly smaller amount the more bands you put on it. BUT, and this is the big BUUT, the graph of the force required to cock the gun as a function of the number of bands on the gun is, again, in an order of magnitude of y=x. In conclusion, up to a certain, quite low point, adding more rubber bands will give you a drastically stronger shot without stressing the gun too much and without making the pull incredibly hard. However, past that point, adding more rubber bands adds an insignificant amount of power to the gun while introducing a whole lot more difficulty in operating it, resulting in an overall, worse gun. That is why I claim that a gun built around the sole concept of being capable to handle a lot of rubber bands is a nice concept, but is much worse than a gun built around efficiency (meaning you try to invest as much of the potential energy of the pin into the bullet by making a more efficient layout and a smarter usage of the forces in play). If you got this far, thank you for reading my article, and I hope this will put an end to this silly argument, but knowing how people's feelings work and how male ego and testosterone works, I bet it's far from it. Happy Knexing everybody ;)

I used pictures from ~KGB~'s WASP and Raz1r Knex Bull3t's WASP (click on their names to see their WASPs. ~KGB~'s is down in the comment section of the link I gave you.) I ran into two problems that I think you guys could help me with. Problem #1 The mechanism: Where did I go wrong? I am starting a new project, I want to tweak some of my old design, design some new systems, and reverse engineer some other stuff to create a whole new system that is effective and powerful. I am planning on making this a full turret, so don't worry about size at all, only effectiveness. Let me know if you guys have any ideas of systems to contribute for the plan (see my previous post for details on 'systems').

crutches to airsoft guns? Answered

I recently tore my MCL and I am going to try to make my crutches into airsoft gun(s).  and I was thinking about using this design somehow.  https://www.instructables.com/id/Homemade-500-fps-CO2-Airsoft-Gun/  any suggestions? it would look cool to have a war where one second you're limping around and the next you're a living turret!!
