Introduction: Melon Ball Punch Recipe
This melon ball punch is the perfect non-alcoholic drink for summer - refreshing and slightly sweet with lots of fizz! I almost want to keep a pitcher in my fridge at all times. When Jon and I made the video for this instructable I pretty much finished off a whole pitcher by myself. ;)
If you wanted to add alcohol, I bet it'd be great with a bit of coconut rum or some white wine. :D
Step 1: Ingredients + Tools
- watermelon, honeydew, or cantaloupe melons
- 1 liter ginger ale
- 6 oz can pineapple juice
- fresh mint
- fresh lemons or limes (I like limes more with this mix!)
You'll also want to make sure you've got a melon baller, some parchment, and a baking sheet on hand.
Step 2: Ball the Melons!
I used the smaller end of the melon baller so I could get more from each melon. I also tried using other fruits with the melon baller but didn't have loads of luck - save yourself some frustration and stick to melon. ;)
Step 3: Place on Parchment and Freeze
I let them freeze overnight, but I bet they would firm up enough in a few hours to serve. Once they're rock hard, you can put them in freezer bags to save space. :)
Step 4: Mix It Up!
You'll need 1 liter of ginger ale and a 6 oz can of pineapple juice.
Take a handful of mint leaves and throw them into the pitcher. Then add about half of a lime cut into thin slices. Add a little of the ginger ale and use a wooden spoon to muddle the mint and lime a bit. Then add in the rest of the ginger ale and the pineapple juice and give it a stir.
Once that's done, drop in your frozen melon balls. For one pitcher I used 45 melon balls.
Set the rest of the melon balls aside to use as ice cubes in the glasses! :D
