I had seen this video in the past. And where I found out about ThermoMorph.
I found eyes on Etsy. When on Etsy just search for "octopus Eye" Lots of options. :)
Thank you. And yes - the ThermoMorph is pretty cool stuff and can be used for SO many different projects!

Very Impressive!!! Great work!
It is always nice to take a break and make something!
I'd be happy to provide additional details. Basically, I removed the OEM hinges and welded in hood hinges into the tub at the bottom of the tailgate. I did reinforce the tailgate on the inside with steel plate where the hinges are screwed into the tailgate. Then I added some brackets and cable on each side of the tub so when open the tailgate would sit at a level position. Feel free to reach out if you have additional questions. Thanks.
There's that word again???
Thanks for the suggestion. Updated. :)
It is. :) they are very rich. It is hard to eat a whole one.

Hi. Good question. I had to rebuild the fenders (step 9). I used fiberglass to build the fenders into what I think is a more aggressive look than what the fenders originally looked like. Thanks for the question.

Here are a few pic looking straight down at the welded area.
Thank you :) And yes. The current model (the JL) does now have a more laid back windshield than what the JKs have. So in general they are heading in that direction.
The hinges (originally hood hinges) were welded to the body just behind where the weather/door seal lip is located. I'll add a few pics. In the 1st pic you can see how I cut and bent the hinges to sit flush with the body where I was going to weld them. The second pick shows the hing in place. I could not find a pick looking down to show the weld better but what I did was I cut the weather strip out just wide enough to fit the hinge. After welding the hinge in place I then welded the weather strip lip back into place on top of the hinge. I'll take a current better picture of the welded area in a sec and add it. It was not a pretty weld but it is hidden by the weather stripping/door seal.
Thank you. I bet your is pretty nice being that you are here. This is a great site that is able to show how creative everyone is!
Thank you. How old was it? I did originally look for CJs to do a straight rebuild but they were very expensive. I had found this one for an extremely low price so it wasn't as scary to start cutting it up. I was glad to be able to put a little CJ in it via the tailgate. :)
TJs are great too! So I have to ask - How did you know they were pacer magnets?? :) Are you in that line of work (as I am) or do you have one?
Thank you. They are lots of fun to own. I was able to drive it to the liner company. I only had the drivers seat in it at the time as they dismantled a lot to make sure to cover both the interior and exterior.
Beautiful build. Great work!
Nice work! The final result looks very professional.
Thanks for the feedback. The entire project took abut 9 months. It was a lot of fun.

I'm relatively new here and have a question. How do you send the giveaway packs out? I don't think I have an address listed anywhere. Thanks!

Thank you. I worked on the cutting and sanding on a different day and was not thinking about taking pictures. So I am sorry to say that I did not get pictures of that process. I wish I had. But it really is basically using a table saw to cut along the lines with a metal grinding blade. and then using a drill press to make sure the center hole is straight.
