You could use one for hours and one for minutes , providing you displayed only 1-12 hours and 5 minute intervals. I'd use a wemos in each one as well considering they are so cheap.

If you wanted to make more of them and use them as a clock it would be very easy to use ntp and I am using timelib in another project to do just that via a NTP service. I use TimeLib.h and the uk.pool.ntp.org server to get the time by just issuing a getNtpTime() request

The libraries are all a lot easier to install now it seems,plus the Adafruit IO is easy to configure. IFTTT have also upped their a game a lot with the new UI as well. The Alexa voice trigger was an added bonus, although to get a lot of colours you'd need to set up all the triggers which can be a bit labourius

Thanks Davy, I admit the temptation was there for a moment. Then I started thinking about a live mains chassis and the chance that all the old capacitors would need replacing before you could even turn it on and test in case it blows all the valves out. I'm going to put the chassis and valves back onto ebay so hopefully someone (with more skill and bravery) will have use of it.

Thanks Jack, its quite remarkable when you consider the wood case is at least 70 years old. Real wood veneer and a wooden case certainly stand the test of time. I think my french polishing skills will take another 10 years or so though before I could even come close to a high gloss finish :)

Thanks Jim. I'm not sure I'm up to making another , but I am making a PCB to hold the Amp and ADC chip and sockets to wire the pots into. I'll post details up when thats done and tested. Probably around Christmas I think by the time the prototype comes back.

Hi Bob, I havent yet worked through all of the code from the on/off shim - https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/onoff-shim as I really want it to play a short audio file before it does the actual shut down. Installing it is a little tricky as you have to keep the soldering down low so that you can still use the pins,but the software was a breeze to install as they have a one line cut and paste to do it all for you., thanks for the vote too!

If you 3D print it in PLA you can use the print as a Lost PLA casting as well.

this did the trick to get the gpio_control.py working.I also had to run through some hoops to get flask up and running. sudo apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev libffi-devython-devand also had to sudo pip install flask_ask as well

See above for setting your echo to the language "English (US)" perhaps? If you are in the UK or elsewhere, then you also have to add languages to your setup.

which gear ratio did you decide on?

What kind of joystick is that? All the ones I've found so far have resistance across an asymmetric range which is very small. Basically not really spot a and only perform as a switch in reality.

nice idea, will try that in another tracked robot I have. For this the servos are opposed driving the front and rear on each side so they are both aligned.
