Oh, my suggestions were for other people who might try this. Yours look fine. Here's another trick. If the wood handle breaks due to a short tang.. just cut handles the exact way you did before, but make the channel for the tang longer. Fill the channel and around the tang with JB weld. Instant longer tang.

Hey, these look really great. I am a woodcarver and these look exactly like a set of Flexcut branded knives. You can get that set for about $60-$80 US. But this is much more fun and viewers probably have everything they need already except for epoxy. So for a $6 investment you'll wind up with a nice set of carving knives that will probably last a lifetime.A few notes from my experience: go with the longer tang instead of a pin. Pinning a blade is not necessary on this type of knife. I will add, pinning is not for the faint of heart. It's much harder than it looks and will likely ruin the smooth look that you see in these pictures. Also, get some scrap leather from a craft store and glue it to a thin block of wood. You'll need a strop handy for wood carving. One of these homemade s…

This was a nice and easy build. My pictures are from making 8 four inch cuts with a bandsaw. Check out all that lovely dust caught in my first bin that isn't clogging my filter. Would buy again.
P.S. Also notice how I left the brick out of the bottom, but it still caught alot of dust.

thank you for your replies. I am definitely tempted to try this. Maybe I'll start with a small bathroom and move on from there

This looks great. I have a couple questions 1. How long does the polyurethane smell last? I am thinking about doing it in my kitchen where the tile is worn after 22 years. But. My fam tends to get nauseas from that smell. 2. Where do you get all the paper bags?3. Would this be suitable for a kitchen floor?
I am curious why you don't think this isnt possible with hand tools? I do virtually all of my planing with hand planes. And all but one of my 7 planes are home built. True, it won't be as quick as using machines, but it's my experience you can get more precision with a hand plane than a machine. I will admit, though, I do not have access to a $4300 jointer - so that may make a difference.
