I'm using the same board and having exactly the same problem. Tried lots of things, but nothing cured it. The board seems to work fine with other sketches, so it's something with this sketch. My guess is the incompatibility is in the newping library. Did you ever solve the problem?

You forgot a ) in the void setupShould read void setup() { Remember to delete first #include in the sketch and include the library from your own file after you download it.Other than that program compiles okay. Plan to see if I can adapt it to recognize whale calls.

I'm working on a similar project - actually a crabcam that has a camera in the crabtrap that captures live images and broadcasts them to the cottage. I'm wondering about your battery/solar system. It seems quite modest for what it has to do. Do you find that the solar charging can keep the electronics running? I have a relay switch that I can transmit a command to turn on the camera (and off) to try and keep my power consumption down, but still find that I get only about 12 hours on a 6800maH 12v battery pack.

Hi:Great project. We have some large (six feet high) poly tanks at the cottage we use to store water. Will the pobes work on tanks this large? What is the maximum distance between the probes?ThanksJeff
View Instructable »Thanks Rlarioswe'll be trying out several approaches for monitoring the tanks this summer. We'll try your method, and also monitoring the tanks with a sensitive pressure sensor, and an ultrasonic method. Ultmately I want to be able to monitor them remotely, they're about 250m away from the cabin, so exploring methods of doing that as well. Should be a fun project. when I get it all put together I'll put it on Instrucables. Any suggestions welcome.Jeff

Hi. Nice circuit. How large a tank will this work on (ie what is the maximum distance between the probes)?

Thanks it takes under 5 minutes a bottle to make. Just remember to keep them in the fridge after they've turned.

I'm looking for the live option so it can hopefully alert us that Orcas are in the vacinity.
Very interesting project! I've built a couple of hydrophones with piezo mikes, and using a PCV as sleave filled with epoxy. They work okay. This looks like it will work better. Our summer cottage is in the Pacific Northwest on the water and the Orcas go by regularly. I'm hoping to see if I can hear them. One thing I'm trying to do is connect the mike to a short range radio transmitter (FM or 915MHZ) to transmit the signal to the cottage. Have you tried anything like that? The other thing I have is a cutoff filter to try and isolate the frequency the Orcas chat on...
