  • UV METER (Music Visualizer) #1 With Arduino

Ah I see that you have used a Arduino Mega, now I have a question based off of that fact, could it be done without multiplexing of any kind on a basic Arduino Uno knock off? Specifically a DCDuino Chinese knock off meant to be Arduino compatible? As far as I've observed it behaves correctly; however I have heard mixed reviews on the knock off systems saying things like the crystals are burning out prematurely. Since you obviously enjoy the art of creating perhaps you could offer some creative criticism; am I barking up the wrong tree? Is it possible to create a similar system, perhaps reusing segments of your code, reducing it to fit on the pinout of an Uno? I would like to create a similar device but want to use what's in my "shop" or apartment as regular people would say. I...

Beautiful PCB by the way, very accurate soldering, makes me feel like my soldering iron is obsolete!

  • How to Make a 12v Battery Charger

Hey just a heads up your charging sealed lead acid batteries with a lithium charger that cost 1.96 cents. Now arguably there are chargers that can recognize between battery chemistries but even the cadex I use to analyze balance and charge multi cell banks cannot and must be programmed differently for each and I mean it's overkill as far as charges go. In basic terms each chemistry of rechargeable battery has a unique charge and discharge cycle. lithiums being the happiest out of nickel metal hydride / nickel cadmium and sealed lead acid as far as being fully depleted and then recharged makes them better for items which will die fully between charges as well as for items that must be recharged from many different states of charge. Be that half dead or dead for a week. Without getting i...

Without getting into the theory too much the gist of what I'm bringing up is sealed lead acids may not necessarily be charged most effectively with a lithium battery charge curve.... nor is it necessarily the safest way to do so, same as how a lithium drill pack can't be charged safely on a cheap nickel metal charger, because the charge curves are wrong for the different chemistries.... there are specific chargers for specific chemistries and I'm afraid that the 1.98 charger advertised for lithium may not be the best choice for your application. Do not put it in your car please. In this case hopping chemistries while adding a multi stage charger isn't actually adding much as far as safety measures go. Sealed leads would prefer constant voltage than ramped voltage, utilizing constant amperage up until a full charge would be a better move, then at full charge all that needs to happen is a switch from full to float or trickle charge. if I'm remembering properly. See a lithium pack charger increases voltage incrementally, not necessarily the best for a SLA. Take a peek online looking up different charge curves and I bet you'll catch what I mean real quick. Still for all intents an purposes good one for making something to fix your problems, right on. Just thought you could use the advice if you were wondering what the deal was with that SLA now that he's been on that charger. Take note using your multi meter the next time you choose to you use your set up, read the battery before applying charge and then watch how the charger attempts to charge the battery. SLA would really benefit from a higher voltage than what is desired being the original charge voltage. For example 14.4 volts from an alternator to your car battery. When the battery is low, I bet the charger will recognize the voltage and begin by applying a lower voltage than the battery is rated for. This and this alone is enough to damage the cells, that's why I came to tell you. Anyway best of luck to you

  • Building your own CNC router/milling machine

Drawer slides. Drawer slides. Why didn't I ever think of drawer slides. That machine looks absolutely mean. Compared to flimsy looking three d printers your CNC machine could beat them up all day. I'm probably going to incorporate your drawer slide design into my ultimate CNC system. I've been cooking it up for a while and experimenting on little machines, I've decided to go with over 2 foot of vertical axis so this would make it look so nice in my opinion. Last couple months I've been sourcing ideas for the frame and I gotta say, the streamlined gantry design is beautiful. A-plus material. Instruct on!

Rafununu, everyone deserves support. Look to each their own. If you don't like it that's okay we're not here to bother you. Your looking at the numbers and seeing loss, this is understandable. Remember though. As it was, the bike expended energy anyway and in turn only created motion, this invention, while slightly parasitic, turns the motion of the bike through air into enough direct electrical current to charge a battery and store the harvested juice for later. So as a whole, their is a very practical use for this device, remember practicality and efficiency are related but are not the same thing. Personally, and this is just my opinion that you don't have to agree with, I think that I'd be happy to add the extra resistance from the fan if it meant that each time I peddled my bike I c...

Imetomi, your very welcome, this place wouldn't be here without authors like you, I've completed many a project using information sourced from this place, so thank you for helping the cause and spreading your knowledge. If it works it's a success in my book. Id like to start sharing my ideas on here but first I must develop them more

To all the people telling this writer who took the time to put this together that the idea is inefficient and all that, if you see a problem come up with a solution. For this devices intended purpose it is everything it was asked to be and more. Honestly when people complain that's when you know your onto something. You think oil companies told tesla they thought his idea was efficient and nice? More power to you. Don't let negativity dissuade your creativity. I'm sure light overcomes dark, unless you'd all disagree saying that lights are actually black hole singularities sucking light back up and anti illuminating the world one head light at a time. This place is supposed to be a network of support.
