Thats what I use it for ;) I use mollotow refillable markers, they are more on the expensive side - where did you get yours? I built a mini version of your steampunk lamp yesterday, with what I had lying around - a coin cell, copper tape, an UV-LED and a test tube (Reagenzglas), works perfectly well, too.
