Hey!When I started this project 2 years ago I didn't really have much programming knowledge - and I still don't! All you need to know to customise code is CMD+C and CMD+V (copy and paste). Instructables is about learning, you are in the right place. Have a go, take the code and change bits, see what happens. Don't give up. It'll feel like you are banging you head against a wall for a while but eventually the wall will tumble down and you'll emerge victorious :)The arduino forum is a great place to get help from the community as is the instructables community. Have a go, and if you get stuck, post a comment here and I'll do my best.Good luck!

This project may be good to look at:https://www.instructables.com/Smart-Pantry/I guess you'd have to look at how to convert AC to DC voltage. I'm sure it would be possible to do via the light that fridges have on the inside.

Hi ShakJ,I'm sorry I haven't any experience with the Raspberry Pi. Good luck!
View Instructable »Hey Scott - not sure if that's your real name ;)Thanks for you comment, and you are right, the ESP8266 is great. Good luck with the rest of your project, post some pictures of it soon!

Hey, the .dwg file is just at 1 to 1 scale. If you download the .dwg and open in AutoCAD or something similar it should be the correct dimensions :)

Does the picture show a kind of pull-up hanging fitness thing? Looks cool!So you are having trouble with the ESP8266, I take it you are using a NodeMCU.Have you added the board in the Arduino IDE board manager. If not, have a look at this quick start to NodeMCU instructable: https://www.instructables.com/Quick-Start-to-No...I think you will also need to change your baud rate to 115200 when you get into the serial monitor.Hope that helps
View Instructable »I do remember having a couple of issues when I first did the project and found that I couldn't get the board to work properly on my Mac. However, you say: "The problem seems to be that I cant see the serial port for the board"I was always able to connect the board and upload code, I just got messages in the serial monitor something along the lines of "wdt rest". When I moved over to Windows I had no problems and got the code working. Are you able to uplaod any code to the NodeMCU? Revisiting the project this year I really had no problems. I'm using 1.6.14 Arduino IDE. I bought standard NodeMCUs from ebay. Have you got more than one board to test against?

Yes it is certainly possible to edit the design in order to fit an iPad mini. If you are still unable to open the .3dm file tell me your email address and I can send you the file directly
- Henri.Lacoste commented on Henri.Lacoste's instructable Oak Mac Mini Case
Hi, I have provided a .3dm file in this instructable. I believe it can be imported into Fusion 360. If you need it in another file type let me know and I will see if I can convert it in Rhinoceros.Perhaps this might help:https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/...

Hey Joshua,To be honest I don't remember the Node-Red stuff so well. I actually rebuilt this project very recently. Someone approached me through Instructables to build two for them. As such I revisited the code and decided it wasn't a very user friendly process to setup the Node-Red stuff.So.Instead I setup an applet on 'if this then that' IFTTT. It's a great website which you can do some really neat stuff with. In the case of the person who contacted me to build them two scales I made an applet that sends a notification to their phone that a certain weight has been reached. If that sounds like something you would like to do let me know and I'll send you the Arduino sketch. It is super easy to setup so in my opinion drop Node-Red.Out of curiosity, have you built a scale. Would love to see…

A truly beautiful project. You say "interactive projection-mapping" and it does appear that people walking past the installation affect the projections. How was this done, I read you used openFrameworks, bu did you use a kinect or something similar?
- Henri.Lacoste commented on lingib's instructable CoreXY CNC PlotterView Instructable »
I'm pretty sure the problem was belt tension. I strengthened the X carriage by adding a bottom cross support which made it more difficult to attach all the belts, I think this was a catch 22 situation. I must admit I have now abandoned the CoreXY setup and gone with a more conventional setup where there is a motor mounted on the gantry to move the X carriage. I am now getting better results when drawing circles.I never actually got your code working on my setup, I have different drivers but as you have stated it should work with easydrivers. However I wasn't very persistent with my attempt. I am really glad to have been introduced to the CoreXY system though, it really is cool how you avoid mounting steppers on the gantry.

Awesome, I look forward to seeing it. I was wondering if there could be a way you could store the quickest time, "high score" if you like. I guess that would involve storing a small piece of retrievable data between power on/off. Slightly more complicated I guess, but would be cool. You could probably do it with a micro SD card module, I've used one like this before was fairly easy to setup: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/391599342582?chn=ps&adgroupid=49962971442&rlsatarget=pla-380395540450&abcId=1129946&adtype=pla&merchantid=10120294&poi=&googleloc=9046888&device=c&campaignid=974960578&crdt=0

View Instructable »Hey lingib,Thanks so much for your instructable, I have found it very useful. Thought I would share with you how my attempt at building a remix of your design has gone. So far the results are pretty good, only stumbling block at the moment is circles. Any ideas here, I think it might be something to do with belt tension. The one major difference is that I haven't used your code but have instead used grbl, kudos to you though for writing your own code, that's incredible!Anyway, thanks again for your instructable!

Hey! Thanks for the vote. It's advisable not to put metal in the microwave, so no it is not microwave safe, and according to this video forks are especially unsafe! As for the dishwasher, generally I don't put any wooden utensils through the dishwasher. The excessive heat and prolonged soaking periods can cause cracking. Thanks for the comment and vote :) !

Hey! Thanks for your comment. I can't remember how often it sends a measurement, I could look back at the code but I believe it will have been about once a second. Although, you could easily program it to make more or less frequent measurements depending on the application. The battery I used was out of an old mobile phone, on a full charge, since the device requires very little power, the device could operate (I guess) for several days, although I never properly tested it. Alternatively it could be run off the mains electricity continuously.
