hey Tammy, you could just draw the lines with a rule and some simple calculation so you know where the blocks need to be. in my case it was actually on "eyesight" :D. so yes, i first alligned them all nextto eachother so i knew how wide my frame needed to be, and then i just put them all with some glue nexto eachother. the rotation was purely done by "ok, this looks good", hahaha. if you want to do it more profesional i suggest you take a halfsquare of 45° to put every new block against so the rotation would always be exact. ;-). i believe it is called a "protractor triangle" in english. well, hope this helps. have a nice day!

hehe, yes, indeed. they were actually longer. i have just cut them up to have more small sticks faster. since i have still a ton of bamboo left i will probable make a bigger thing out of bamboo in the future :-) thanks for watching

View Instructable »yes, those drills are homemade ;-). it is a typical Metalcutting HSS drill. i iput it on the drillpress at a rotating speed and use my angrinder with cuttingwheel or flapsanderdisc to make the circle/width of the first 20mm smaller. then i just reshapen it a bit so it cuts like a kreg drillbit. not that hard actually. just be carefull when going crazy with the anglegrinder :P. friendly greetings, Jörgen

just flat. the only sanding was to make them less rough and to remove sharp edges. the spacers make sure the light can get through it. and because of the light color wood it makes the like easier to reflect.
- JörgenBörg commented on JörgenBörg's instructable Reclaimed Firewood Ambiance Light "Ardenne"
thanks for checking it out :-)
well, thank you twice :D
Hope you have seen many loglights then hahaha ;-). you probably haven't seen it because it was just online, and i didn't steal it of an existing model (but you never know if somebody has made this before) friendly greetings, Jörgen
View Instructable »jup, indeed. the light i bought is never too hot to touch, so the risk of fire just as high as any other storebought light. and the electrical connection is stored in hotglue on the bottom, so no risk of electrical fire too. friendly greetings, Jörgen

"warning, never burn candle on or near anything that can catch fire" yes, a drywoodcandlebase is luckily unflammable. ;-) If we just all use our common sense, everything should be fine. Nice candle holder. like the rough texture on top

Magic of magnets mate! see the cad plan. 1) when no force is applied the magnets keep the two clamps in place on the metal vise. when force is aplied the horizontal pressure helps to keep the clamps in place together with the magnets since all is nicely centered. so no mate how many force is applied, the chance of it shooting out of the vice is very, very, very small.

hey, i did miss your post. i used skateboard wheels because they have grip and a most grinders i know have a rubberish runningsurface, so this was a cheap solution compared to big bearings i don't have. same for the spacers. i only had 4 bearings left and the sandpaper is pretty sturdy and stong so. ;-). i'm still looking for improvements, but i'm pretty satisfied with the design and speed adjustable grinder. i use it as my primary sander so my portable beltsander of makita is only gathering dust now :D
thx friend, if only i could get ideas like that daily :D
