We wanted a nice thick cushionto sit on so instead of an opening in the top I made 3 drawers instead. Looks pretty food for an amateur like me :D
I have tile floor so I can't screw into that. Also, the area has straight up 90 degree angles so my horizontal bottom piece will be perpendicular to the side walls. Will just drilling pocket holes and securing the ends to the base plate be sufficient to hold it in or is there a better way for me to secure the bottom? Thanks for the help.
I'm thinking about building something similar and I have a question. For the top and bottom horizontal 2x4's of the front of the bench, did you screw them in to studs on the side walls or are they just secured together with the 5 vertical 2x4's and then to the back wall with the 3 horizontal pieces?
Love the look of this planter box. Couldn't quite tell from your pictures but it looks like you used (2) 1"x4"x8' boards for the trim on the top which isn't in your materials list. That's what i used and i also replaced your 1x6 boards with 1x8. My wife loves it. I made it the height of our kitchen windows so she could just reach out and pick herbs.
