This has been on my list of projects so that I can bump up some views and get some more traffic on my youtube. I like the way you did everything without having purchased expensive pieces, very nice. The only thing I've seen others do is add a pushing handle. What are you thoughts?

Might have to try this, but was just thinking, might be just as easy to do something like put old batteries in the bottom as a weight. Use something that would otherwise end up in a landfill and not have to design a way to hold the weights you're using.

I've seen videos of people making these using a three ring binder and glass from a picture frame from the dollar store. I went out and bought an expensive on (like $100) and honestly, I just don't take the time to write scripts and use it, so it was a waste of money for me. Wish I would have found these other solutions before I shelled out the cash.

I added a link in Step 9 to your instructable to show the table saw way to do it. I don't like doing it by table saw because I don't have a saw that can take a DADO blade and feel there are too many ways to make errors and ruin the box doing it with a small blade.

I've made a handful of these using 2x4s, 10 1/2 inches long. Most stud lumber isn't all that true. Honestly, I have rented these units out and I just tell people, if they don't slide well and the game ends early, it's just another opportunity to start and play again. You'd really need a jointer and planer to make them perfect and I don't think those tools are necessary for it to still be a good fun game.

Just made something similar, writing the instructable now. I didn't add the fabric but made a few nesting boxes and did something different with the top.
- LincolnsCreations commented on LincolnsCreations's instructable Gift Wrap Organizer (Plywood)View Instructable »
That's great, glad it worked out. I used 3/4 plywood for my whole unit, so it was really, really heavy, plus I had room for 5 rolls of paper. My parents took one I made for them and swapped for a plexiglass stop that was lighter and put on foldable legs so they can work standing up (as opposed to on the floor or having to lift it to a table).
- LincolnsCreations commented on LincolnsCreations's instructable Downdraft Sanding Table From ScrapsView Instructable »
Thanks for the tips. I do have a router table with a hose attachment, so I don't use it for that, and most of my routing projects are too big to use over a downdraft table. I would love something bigger, but I don't have the vacuum setup in my small shop to warrant a bigger table. This one works fine for sanding small objects or long pieces of wood over a small area.

Getting ready to do the juice groove, which size style bit did you use? I know you used a smaller one first before widening it.It didn't line up perfect, needs a juice groove, sanding, and oil, but otherwise looks cool for an edge grain cutting board. My next round will be better.

For the most part, I agree with you. The problem is pucks normally run about $1.50 new, so you'd have to spend that, otherwise you'd have to get your hands on a dozen or so of them used and that's not always easy to do for most people (I'm sure if I hung around a rink long enough I could walk away with some). I may look into doing it at a later date if I can get my hands on some for next to nothing, but using the scrap wood was free for me and then I'm only in the cost of the plasti dip or other means of grip.
- LincolnsCreations commented on LincolnsCreations's instructable Simple DIY Bench Cookies (Biscuits)
I'd use them when painting something, to raise it up a little so paint doesn't dry on the unit I'm painting and any drop cloths I use, or you can use it to lift up a piece of work as you use a circular or jigsaw.
I'm actually a hockey player as well and I like the idea. New ones run about $1.50 each, so that would get you closer to even with the cost of the Rockler cookies, but doable if you have them around or can pick up used ones. Might be something I try at a later date if I can pick up pucks at the rinks I play at.
View Instructable »They are about $3-$4 each, depending on whether you can catch a sale or not. Mouse pads are a great idea if you can get a good epoxy/glue coating to keep them on. I do like that idea, thanks for the suggestion.

To keep them from rising, I forgot, I taped them to the bucket itself.
The ones I didn't sell to someone specifically I use as garden art for the most part. Many people wanted them as "man cave" items. Since they aren't super stable to have a person sit on, normally I say use the tall ones as side tables for your beer, and the small ones just accent pieces in sports rooms.
I was going to do basically this exact same instructable myself if I had the time for the concrete challenge because I've made dozens of these, normally with hand painted images for sports teams and symbols.
View Instructable »I just rested them up there and sometimes marked them the same distance from the bottom using painters tape, so that they all had the same length sticking out of the bucket. Otherwise, I just tried my best to make them even. I did drill a screw in the side to keep it from working it's way out of the concrete, like you did. I didn't cut my legs to be flush on the ground since as a garden type piece, it doesn't need to be perfect.

I'm pretty sure mine still functions (although I haven't turned it on in a year), but I need to strip the paint and clean it up, maybe add modern wiring and hopefully it will be good to go. I'm a little fearful, so not sure I'll actually do it, but we'll see.

Let me know what you guys think of this project. I wish I had another sheet of plywood laying around, but with the costs of lumber so high, I'm not about to go buy a sheet just for this project, so I likely won't be fully organized for a while or until I have left-overs from other more interesting projects.

I have the exact, if not a very, very similar fan that I've had sitting outside. I think it still works, but it's rusted out a bit. I would love to get it re-furbished. Might have to try to tackle it myself soon.

Thank you, appreciate you responding. I have done a little work in resin/epoxy and I have seen my wood expel air as the resin/epoxy dried and am always interested in any issues other people have or see so I can avoid similar concerns if I try a project like it.
- LincolnsCreations commented on Lineakat's instructable Leaf ClockView Instructable »
Thanks for the response. I know when I've done work in resin they recommend sealing any live edge wood (or any wood for that matter) because even if it's really dry, there's a chance gases and air try to escape and depending on the cure rate or chemical composition of the resin, there might be issues, so was just wondering if you took any other steps, thanks.
- LincolnsCreations commented on Lineakat's instructable Leaf ClockView Instructable »
Did you need to seal the leaves themselves at all? Given the way resin cures, I wasn't sure if there's a potential for the leaves to potentially expel air and/or gasses as the resin cures.

I know a lot of people have done hinged cabinets that fold down from the ceiling, or in my shop, I have a lumber rack that I added a hinged, rolling wall in front of. I have it covered in peg board so I can store a lot of random tools and then it just rolls out when I need to get to the lumber or back up again the rack when I need the open space.

Yeah, I don't have finished walls in my basement shop, so it will never be that "clean" but hopefully I can clean up a good work surface for pictures so I don't have all my tools scattered around the room in the background.
View Instructable »Looks good. I actually bought one on Amazon a long time ago an it's been sitting on a shelf for years. I need to get it out and install it. Actually found it while I was cleaning my shop this weekend. Your shop looks so clean compared to mine so I figured it might be time to re-organize so I can get better pictures and videos.
