I can identify with this so much. We have a quilt my husband's mom made from the remains of various sewing projects, and he can pick out his sisters' dresses, or his and his brother's shirts, from among the squares. Your blanket is beautiful, both on its own, and with your personal history with the wool it's made of. Your description also is lovely and poetic, as warm as the blanket you wove. Thank you for sharing with us!
Herb-Ox brand (parent company is Hormel Foods) is gluten free, made with real chicken, but not low in sodium. If I can't find another alternative, I plan to go with that, and add salt cautiously.
I have used the iron trick on my hardwood floors ;)
Great project and ideas! I used this as a springboard for my flower. A couple tips: I used the nib of a mechanical pencil to etch petal/leaf outlines into the aluminum, which eliminated the need to wash off any ink. Also, a small power sander made short work of dulling sharp edges, and lets you texture the metal if you want a more industrial look.

The finished dress is beautiful, I love the silver piping detail on the flounces! Your instructions didn't mention where you used the satin; I'm assuming you used it as the lining for the bustier? I love this, you are very talented :D
