Tell us about yourself!
Wow! Looks like a labour of love, with all the many attempts and cracked parts along the way, but the end result is seriously cool!
I've just built one of these myself, and as I didn't have any instructions I had to figure it out for myself. I'm pleased to say that my method was exactly the same as the way you have just described. Those SMD components were the trickiest, especially as my eyesight is not what it used to be! A good light source, and a magnifying lens on an adjustable "helping hand" stand proved to be very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to post a great Instructable!
Great idea! And brilliant execution too. I hope you don't mind if I borrow the idea and make some of my own.
A beautiful tool! The grain in that wood is simply stunning.

Wow! That is a stunningly beautiful canoe you have built. Great instructable, I shall make a note for future reference, as I would like to build a canoe of my own one day. If is is not even half as nice as yours I will be well pleased.
What a superbly thought out and executed tool! That is stunning. I would never get tired of using such a well made marking gauge.
Nitro Engine PENCIL Sharpener!
You sir are a certified insane genius! That is some seriously impressive repurposing. One question though, does it eat pencils at a prodigious rate? I have visions of pencils disappearing quickly, and your fingers as well if you don't let go quick enough.
