This works for some applications. However, it's very hard to grind cinnamon to the flour-like consistency of ground cinnamon at home. To do that you need a very high end grinder.
With the specific tins I used the lids slid on, but were a fairly snug fit. I actually had some tins with fine spices like cinnamon that became harder to open because of the dust in the joint. Overall, if the lids are fairly snug, you should be all good.
