I wonder if a sheet (or sheets) of crumpled flat aluminium kitchen foil attached as a last layer on the underside to reflect light back in might help? Maybe the crumpled effect might help to break up the diffusion pattern yet reflect enough light around the full interior without adding much weight at all. I have no idea if this would work but just thought would throw it out there....

was thinking that you could also engrave a pic or wording onto the tile before you put it all together to make a nice memorial/keepsake for someone who has lost a pet or loved one (which in my case are the same ;-) ) the light would then reflect off of that as well. just an idea i had...love this project. I also wonder if you could add essential/fragrant oils to this e.g. lavender so it could give a nice aroma as well without interfering with the flame??

i'm just starting to set one of these up using a plastic tub as the cabinet type set up. do you need to have a vacuum system operating to keep the air clear with the eraser or just an air filter would do??
thank you for this instructable, i would like to make one of these asap. just a couple of questions - 1) what size tub are you using ? 2) what sandblasting media and grit are you using for blasting glass? and 3) what automotive filter are you using? One idea I had for the gloves was after you wrap the blue painters tape around them on the flanges - you could also perhaps using pipe clamps over the top of them to secure them tightly on? - I havent tried this of course but just wondering in case you needed some holding power for them. Thanks again - i'm looking forward to getting one made!
