Thank you very much, I’m pretty happy with them. Especially considering they are just coloured glue. :)
View Instructable »Thanks, it took a little trial and error but once all the kinks were figured out it became a very fun thing to do to pass the time. My favourite bit is how the colours shine through. :)

Thanks I'm glad you like it! The edge of the frame in combination with the fact that the wings only sit up a little bit makes it so that the white isn't easy to see. If you know they aren't real and you angle your head juuust right then you can kind of see it but honestly it looks great as is.I wouldn't recommend gluing two sheets together, even if you mirror the images making sure the cuts line up perfectly the edge will be noticeably thicker and you will need to run a marker over it or something. I tried with double sided printing but getting it to line up on a home machine was a headache that just wasn't worth it.

Thanks! They look a lot more convincing in real life, I always find people staring at my "butterfly collections" They are always very surprised to find that they aren't real, so its a great conversation starter. :)

I'm right handed so I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure it would work. I find it reduces smudging when I draw using charcoal and pencils so can't see why it wouldn't. In that case it also protects long sleeved shirts from getting dirty. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad to hear you like it!

Thanks, I’ve been playing with the concept for ages. I watched a lot of people try similar things with mixed results. Using acrylic paint instead of some kind of dye (like food colouring) and not using a light underneath to spot mistakes early were the two most common things that tripped people up. I hadn’t seen anyone make the liner with paint and glue though, that was a lot of trial and error to get right. Tacky glue really is the key. The end result behaves so much like the stuff you buy in little kits, just way cheaper.
