I'm about 2/3 through making one of these right now, but I am using knitting needles instead of a knitting knobby. I'm not looking forward to the sewing :-(
I mix it with dried lavendar and use it as a dry carpet shampoo instead of the sickly sweet smelling commercial products.
Refrigerator pickles are crunchier. Pickles that are process in a hot water bath are cooked by the process and are a tad limp.
The first sentence in Step 6 is very important; if you try to speed up the process by pouring boiling brine over your pickles, your jar is going to shatter.
I'm going to have to keep a look out for it as this is something I've not seen before. I wonder if King Arthur offers it on their website?
You've done an outstanding job of recreating a stunning vintage look, right down to hair, underpinnings and accessories.
I think sewing the lid gives a cleaner, more 'pro' looking finish to the box lid.
