No, methanol in the system would never contact the aluminium plate, however! That is a really good point, I might switch to a more intert coolant like distilled water with biocide in it. Without the cold trap like my diff pump has, it wouldnt work particularly well for evacuating a CRT, since they splatter oil vapor. So either a turbo or a diff pump with cold trap baffle like this is the only way to go for that. Might actually plumb refriderated coolant to the baffle, and just room temp water to the water jacket so as not to overcool the pump housing.

Well, I havent actually gotten that far, so for now its literally just the LCD wired to the arduino. I haven't even made the voltage divider or connected it to the gauge or even powered up the gauge itslelf as of yet. As soon as I can do that, I will update this instructable and the main one with the wiring to connect the gauge to the arduino.

but whats the point though if you can buy these tubes on ebay for less than $20? or you can splurge a bit more and get a real x-ray tube for around 60-100$ and have a beam you can actually use for practical imaging applications.
