Yes, the trick is centering it when turning the second direction, or you'll over-turn it, and still have just one cylinder with rounded ends
View Instructable »It does look like a pillow. The trick is making it perfectly round in only 2 directions at a right angle, so it can roll both ways. I'd say it's use Is similar to a top... to play with it, or look at it. It is a mathematical model of 2 intersecting cylinders. Thanks for checking it out.

Hey Robert, Great plan! it worked great for me. For the ring I made with the stone in it, it is a cubic zirconia gem (about $20) but they look just like diamonds. and with wood, you don't want to risk it falling out, because there's no guarantee. SO, the inside of the ring on this tutorial is what I did. A solid wrap of cherry. You want to use a pretty dense hardwood if it's going to be skinny like that. Anyway, I made the band wide, and then I set the stone and then shaped the rest of the ring around it. I set the stone by first drilling a tine hole all the way through the ring, then a slightly larger one then a slightly larger one, until I got the shape I wanted. I used round diamond dremel bits for this part. But basically the shape I drilled into the ring was like a countersink hol…

there are millions of planes built like this! lots of people take flat planes to the next level. you merely need enough thrust and control surface area. it flies better upside down this way too, instead of being pulled down by the airfoil.

If you uopdate Fusion 360, You can also just use the emboss tool to emboss the maze onto a regular cylinder. So much easier now.
When modifying, only use the cut or join option, not create new component.
This was before the Emboss feature was added. Now it's even easier, You don't have to use the flange option now, you can directly emboss the maze onto a cylinder now.
