I haven't test the battery life yet, I don't have any good 18650 (just few old ones I scavenged from dead laptop batteries), so the battery life will be short with those, but since this is field swappable I am not going to worry about that. When you do the helmet mount design it would be great to be able to utilize the J-Arm switch come with some military helmet NVG mounts. I plan to use a 3-position switch with one being always off, one being always on and one using J-Arm to control power on/off.
I used an 18650 cell so I can change battery in the field. Also I used an different charger/booster board with low-voltage protection to the cell. Because of the changes, I can't use the 3D printing files provided to print the case. I am going to design one myself later. But in the mean time, I used a large piece of heat shrink and some zip-tie for the case. A little bit ugly, but it works very well.
