Excellent project. Well done. Another way to create time based models is to use After Effects & ImageJ. Not sure how to get tracking data into After Effects tho. Hmmm. Animating white dots tracking a fibonacci spiral path over time then exported as an image stack & processed with ImageJ (Fiji) to create an .obj.

  • Build a DIY Desktop 3d Scanner With Infinite Resolution.

Ruggedized prototype... for larger, heavier objects. :-)Made a few changes ... R & R'd the Sainsmart LCD with a 1602 I2C LCD (4 pins sda, scl, a4, a5) & a IR Remote. More buttons on the remote = more scanner options. Couple other changes / updates with the remote. Option to change stepper motor speed from 1 RPM to 4, continuous revolution (for video) from 1x to 3x, support for Nikon cameras with a 9 pin cable release...Focus only button ( NikonFocus Focus(9) ) & camera type ( NikonCable Camera(10) ) - or the standard ( Nikon Camera(53) & others) Also, the manual advance is now tied to the automatic scan mode... in other words, if you stop the auto scan, you can then advance the scan manually - then resume auto steps at the same step/exposure - or, start in manual &am...

There is a reset all button now too... sets the scanner back to the startup defaults. Replace the mp3 remote with a robot control remote and the buttons will make more sense. EQ (equalizer) button is set to the 'reset all' - I guess, that makes everything equal... (back to =0;). Running on a Nano & Uno... designed to run on a custom turntable with a reduction gear... now I just need to design a case to put everything in. I am using a dual 12v/5v power supply from an old DVD burner - 12v to run the driver/stepper & 5v to run everything else. I really like the dual power supply for Arduino projects that require both 12 v & 5 v... all this is now in the wall wart... ;-)anyway... if anyone is interested, lemme know & I'll figure out how to make the code available.

  • Build a DIY Desktop 3d Scanner With Infinite Resolution.

Work in progress - adding full turn functionality by replacing the Sainsmart LCD with an I2C LCD & IR Remote. More buttons = more options ;-) Ditching the IR LED trigger system too as it does not work with my camera system. Added support for 9 pin Nikon cameras (hard wire).
