Wow Travis, that looks incredible! Thank you for sharing! What type of wood did you use for yours? And were there any other modifications you needed to make (other than cutting the hole in the bottom!) or were the included files workable? Great work!

Cost effective is unfortunately hard to come by these days! The circular ornament is actually made with an old birch door that I peeled the skin off.Most of my other stuff I do with Baltic birch or poplar from a local plywood supplier. Poplar tends to be a bit harder to source and not everyone around here carries it, but I find that it cuts really well. For costs, Baltic birch that used to be $17 for a 5x5 sheet is now closer to $30, and a 4x8 sheet of poplar that used to be $40 is now $70! Cost per ornament is still small (you could get well over 200 in a sheet of plywood if you planned it well) but it still adds up!I've seen other people use MDF and that still seems to be cheaper, but I don't think it would look quite as nice for a project like this.
