Very interesting information on the topic, from around the year 1734: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jantar_Mantar,_Jaipur

JohnW539, at the outset, please accept my congratulations on your great Instructable.I knew vaguely about the place in Jaipur and had it in my bucket list since I came across t whilst glancing on ancient maths and astronomy. JohnW539, at the outset, please accept my congratulations on your great Instructable.I knew vaguely about the place in Jaipur and had it in my bucket list since I came across t whilst glancing on ancient maths and astronomy. Those guys were brilliant in mathematics and clear thinking. No computers or even electricity back then.Another shockingly great section, also outdoors, was the complete set of stone and iron structures for each of the constellations, with exact sightings for the appropriate time of year. One couple from England went to their birth sign, constellation Aquarius, and asked how the heck it means anything. The guide explained that you can sight the correct alignments of the stars/planets mostly on cloudless nights, during the appropriate times of year for that particular sign. They are such humble people with great knowledge, very deep thinkers, unassuming and never marketing it to the West.Do read about it, maybe googling "Jantar Mantar", and if you go to Jaipur, do include this place and set aside good time.Keep up your great work.Regards,Ed.
