Good question. While some building codes may require a permit for such a treehouse, my local codes do not.
While the trees are on my property, they are close to the property line. The deck of the treehouse extends past the trees and may extend over the property line. To be safe, I asked the neighboring horse farm if it would be okay even if the structure extended onto their property. Thankfully, they didn't mind :)
I designed and built the treehouse (or micro-house) based on how I thought my family would use and enjoy it. My kids are quite happy with it - regardless of what it's called.
Thanks. The wood from this treehouse is not attached to or even touching either tree. The TABs support the treehouse and allow the trees to move and grow.
