First and foremost I am a Christ-follower. I love to always learn. I have worked 36 years in the electroplating field and enjoy mechanical engineering, metallurgy and electrochemistry.

Wow. I thought this would be breeze. Learned a couple things here. One, don't turn your soldering iron on and then go drink a cup of coffee. The tinning on the solder tip will degrade from the excess heat and then the now-exposed steel tip will begin to corrode. Your not going to do much soldering after that. Second, tin and clean that tip a lot. Third, make sure you pick a piece of shrink tube that not only fits over the outer diameter of the wire but also the diameter of the soldered, bent wires. Last, I need magnifier glasses to see this small stuff!

There were some great responses in this thread but they were all over my head in terms of understanding and time available. We just purchased something else with multi-color lights.
