Baking at higher temperatures(above 220) would have slightly different results, though not necessarily in a bad way. The shelf life would probably be still be quite long(though I can't say since I haven't tried it) and I think it would probably be hard, though I'm guessing not hardtack hard.

It's still being used and in good shape. If you keep them out of the sun and rain antlers will last just about forever, same with the rawhide, so no problem with getting powdery or brittle. I had one antler that split as I was putting the screw in, but that was because I was trying to go in at a steep angle. Other than that, none of them have split or gotten loose. Branches would be cool to use, I'd like to see pictures when it's done.

it's in the path in the top middle of the picture, just above the patch of snow and directly under the r in anther. It's easy to see if you zoom in on the original picture on my phone, but I just noticed that it lost a lot of clarity when I uploaded it, sorry.

I only started doing this a few months ago so I can't really say for long term but if you are keeping it indoors it seems like it would last at least as long as a regular photo. If you are wanting to display it outside I would recommend a UV resistant clear coat, I think that would make it pretty permanent but I can't say for sure since I haven't tried it.

interesting, I think I will try it too!

You can do more colors, but it's tricky because each time you dye it the colors will change if they aren't covered. If you really plan it out though, you can do more than two. For example if you wanted yellow, green and blue, you could start with yellow (it's always best to start with the lightest color) and cover everything you want to be green and everything you want to stay yellow. Then dye it blue. Then uncover what you want to be green(and maybe recover what you want to be yellow just to be safe) and die it green. As long as the green you use is lighter than the blue you use, it shouldn't affect the color much. But unfortunately this method has its limitations and you'll be hard pressed to get a lot of crisp colors together. Unless you are talking about one coat that is multi colore…

But unfortunately this method has its limitations and you'll be hard pressed to get a lot of crisp colors together. Unless you are talking about one coat that is multi colored. That is simply a marbled effect which you can do by carefully pouring dye on patches or only partially submerging the fabric in several colors. I hope that's helpful!
