Sorry, I thought I answered this. I mounted two 3060 metric extrusions on the back of the gantry. The linear rails mounted to this through the gantry back plate. It was added to improve the stiffness.
Hi, I cut it with a 3/16" single flute cutter. I don't recall the exact cutter. I used wd40 for the lubricant. I tried the blow the chips out of the cut. It makes a mess, so I don't cut aluminum often. Yes it's 1/2" aluminum.

Thanks for the comments. Most of the parts fit on a small sheet of paper or could be pieced with multiple sheets and taped together. The rest of the parts were measure and laid out by hand. The most critical holes were for the stepper motors to align the stepper motor to the linear screw. Good luck!

No idea. A 4 x 8 machine would be a full redesign including changing the linear ball screws to a rack design. The frame would need significant upgrades and I would get rid of the wood side supports and gantry. Someone else with more time would have to do the work.
It works! Thanks for the screen shots and instructions. This is exactly what I needed!
Hmmmm. Thanks for the comments. Sounds like the Gecko 540 would be a good solution. I'm also considering the Warp9 Smooth Stepper. Would love to get a free sample. I'll have to explore Mach3 some more for the limit switch issue. Acutally I rewired all of my limit switches because I needed a port for a zero plate. Zero plate is a must have for inlays. Thanks
Awesome - Thanks for taking the time and looking it up. I'll try it tonight.

If you are referring to the number in brackets for each dimension, that is the dimension in millimeters.
Not sure. Which drawing has this note?
Thanks for the great advice. Does the disc help once it's installed on a system with its load? Seems like the disc would help most when there is no load.
Thanks - Another commenter mentioned this. There are 3 limits for each direction: X Home, X+ and X++. May need disable some choices.
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe Mach3 has another mode versus the way I've set it up. There's 3 choices for each direction: X Home, X+ and X++. May need disable some choices.
Thanks for the feedback. Actually I have only used the autohome once. I'll look into the BIOS next chance I get.
Thanks for the advice. I did a quick search on Newegg for parallel port cards and they don't list the voltage. How does one know without buying it?
thanks - Kflop looks similiar to the Warp9 Smooth Stepper board
Thanks for the list of options. It's a crowded field that can be difficult to sort out. Happy machining!
Thanks - I'm computer challenged already. I didn't want to attempt Linux as another operating system. Mach3 seemed pretty prevelant.
About $1400 plus or minus, without the computer or software.
Thanks - I'd like to get more speed out of it, so stripping out unnecessary stuff is a goal.
