  • I keep a small covered dish with baking soda next to my sink and pat it with a wet sponge and then wipe it around the lids. Works wonders. I use backing soda for cleaning my stove and oven as I am sensitive to chemicals. As for bleach? Might work but I get migraines from bleach so I don't use that anymore.

Rice or pebbles work, too. Rockhounds usually have some small rocks - we have a ton of little agates and I use them to clean the hummingbird feeders since we can't use soap or baking soda or vinegar in those. For my thermos', I use hot soapy water then follow with an overnight soak of just boiling water. All these suggestions work well.
